This is our favorite resort for a reason! There are so many things to do right on property. Before you head home, make sure to hit up the hiking trail, pool, and see the link below for a list of special events.
Getting out on the water is one of the best ways to experience the Hood Canal. You are pretty much guaranteed to see jellyfish and starfish, and curious harbor seals are not uncommon. If you are staying at Alderbrook, you can rent from their docks. Otherwise, Water Rentals has lots of options for a little lower price: https://www.funkayakrentals.com/twanoh-state-park-kayak-rental-near-me-paddle-board-rental-near-me.html
Started by a couple as the greatest retirement project ever, this place is the real deal. If you go, you have to try our favorite, the Bees Knees. Chuck has a wealth of knowledge about distilling, be sure to ask about his operation if you are interested.
Looking for an easy hike to get yourself acquainted with the old growth trees and blue waters of Olympic National Park? We love this one. There is a fun suspension bridge and some great spots for skipping rocks on the river. Bonus- it takes you past some gorgeous views of Lake Cushman to get there!
Mt. Ellinor is hands down our favorite hike. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Rainier, Adams, and St. Helens, not to mention views of the full Hood Canal that look like you are looking down at a map. It's also really incredible to get to the top and see the ridge of the Olympic range stretch out before you to the north. That being said, this hike is hard! If you decide to go, make sure to read trail reports, bring lots of water, and have good hiking boots. You will also need a car that can take some serious potholes on the way to the trailhead parking lot (which has some great views itself if you aren't feeling up for a hike). For a hike with easier parking, but similar views, Mount Rose is also wonderful https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/mount-rose).
