"We met working together at Fresh City Market. Technically, Michael was the boss. We didn't talk much until Christmas Eve. Michael asked me on a date while we were working together. We were talking about our favorite beers and I mentioned loving Chinese food. Michael told me that I should let him show me some good beer and I could show him what good Chinese food was. After he asked me, he just walked away. He didn't even wait for an answer. I think he got so nervous that he just dipped out." - Rhyannon "The first time I met Rhyannon, I was heading outside with a coworker to take a cigarette break. I walked outside right after Matt did, and there was this beautiful woman sitting on the ground with an unlit cigarette in her hand. She asked if I had a lighter that she could use. I said yes and handed her my lighter, when she then used and handed back to me. I knew she worked at the store, but I didn’t really acknowledge her existence before that moment, but she always stuck out to me after. A few years later, Rhy told me that she had a lighter and only asked for mine because she thought I was cute and wanted a reason to talk to me. " - Michael
"I'm not exactly a traditional person so the idea of being the person to propose was interesting for me. I took his daughter to a photo booth at the mall. We took photos holding up signs. In each photo section was a different sign that spelled out "will you marry me." I put it in a wrapped up box with a ring I bought. I had no idea Michael had planned to propose to me the entire time. He had the ring in his pocket. After he opened his proposal box, he walked over to where I was sitting, got on one knee and said, "Will you marry me back then?" I got so nervous I threw my phone across the room while I was recording him!" -Rhyannon "Going into the fourth year of our relationship, Rhyannon started to aggressively drop hints about marriage. It is something that we talked about, and I had known that she was the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with for a while now, but I didn’t want my proposal to be expected. I wanted her to be surprised, I wanted it to be special, and I wanted her to love the ring. I had found some that I knew that she would like, but I really wanted it to be perfect for her. I wanted to propose to her on our 5-year anniversary, and I started feeling pressure to find that ring. Luckily, I stumbled across the “perfect” ring for Rhy shortly before Christmas. The moment that I saw it, I just knew that it was the one for her. It was exactly what I had been picturing in my head the entire time. After purchasing the ring, I decided to hide it in my car to make sure that she couldn’t find it. Of course, the following day she “needed to use my car”. I began to worry that she would find out about the ring and my proposal beforehand. I thought about moving the proposal up to New Year’s, but Keely convinced me that I shouldn’t wait and I should propose to Rhy on Christmas Day. Even though it wasn’t going to be as planned as I originally wanted, it felt perfect to do it with Elliott and Keely there." - Michael
