Mike was a seasoned employee at Box, Inc. who had worked his way up the sales organization. In February of 2021, Kathryn decided to start a new role in Sales at Box, Inc. Mike was a welcoming and helpful "Boxer" who reached out to Kathryn via an internal company chat to offer up his assistance in helping her with onboarding. Kathryn took one look at his chat photo and said to herself "yepppp I'll take a meeting with that guy" (lol). Kathryn and Mike got on Zoom a few days later and spent 30 minutes bonding about the State of Maryland, cream of crab soup, and McGarvy's (a restaurant in Annapolis). There was no onboarding help that was given in those 30 minutes, but boy, were there sparks flying personally between the two. They continued to chat every couple of days for the next few weeks exchanging questions and the occasional joke. A few weeks later, it was Kathryn's birthday and Michael reached out to say Happy Birthday and invite Kathryn to a party that his roommate Emmett was having for his birthday, but Kathryn already had her own birthday party to attend that night (duh!). Regardless, Michael and Kathryn still ended up meeting in person later that night at a bar on West 6th Street in Austin where they shared their first kiss only 30 minutes later. They both felt the "when you know, you know" feeling the second they took their Zoom and internal work chat relationship to an in-person relationship!!! Michael and Kathryn continued to hang out every day after and honestly, the rest is history. They spent the next few weeks getting to know each other on dinner dates, nightly walks around the Travis Heights neighborhood, and 1:1 beer pong games on the Newning patio (the fratio) where Michael didn't take it easy on Kathryn ever (Kathryn is still looking for her first beer pong win vs Michael to this day). Michael and Kathryn officially began dating exactly one month after meeting in person and have continued to grow together since! A year later, they moved in together and now reside in Austin, TX with their wonderful little girl chocolate lab puppy named Rhodes. She is the light of their life!!!
