Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by June 15.

Question

Are you getting married in 2024 or 2025?

Answer

We are getting married on August 10, 2024. Sorry for the confusion on the invitation!

Question

When should I arrive to Cartagena?

Answer

That is up to you. Additional wedding events will begin on Thursday, August 8, although we know that not all of our guests will be able to participate in everything. In order to participate in the activities on August 8, you will need to arrive to Cartagena by August 7. We will host a Welcome Reception on Friday, August 9 in the evening, and the wedding will take place on Saturday, August 10.

Question

When should I buy my flight?

Answer

That is a tough question to answer because ultimately: it depends. We would say the earlier the better, which generally is true, but there is also that sweet spot where prices lower. We recommend setting up an alert through Google Flight that will monitor the pricing: https://www.google.com/travel/flights?hl=en-US&sa=X&ved=0CAAQkLkBahcKEwj40YbP1amEAxUAAAAAHQAAAAAQBg

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We put together this Google Doc that goes over our recommendations for lodgings: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MYQcX27oCNNzE50ptH09zdjW3zqMmRFzmHQNwfoPfNY/edit?usp=sharing You may contact our concierge service if you have more questions about accommodations. Reach out to Two Travel via email to reservations@two.travel or send a WhatsApp to Ray on +57 320 4742249.

Question

Do you have any tips traveling to Cartagena?

Answer

Glad you asked! Here are some high-level tips: - If you are coming from the States, sign up for Global Entry : https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry - You will be required to fill out CheckMig within 72-hours of your flight to and from Cartagena. This is a pre-registration for the Colombian immigration system and is required: https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/en - If you get motion sick in the car or otherwise, come prepared with Dramamine. Drivers can be a little heavy on pedals and light on the air conditioning. - Reach out to your bank informing them you will be traveling. Many places will accept a credit card, but not everywhere so you will need to have Colombian pesos as well. - You can ask your hotel where they recommend you purchase pesos (this is how you say it in Spanish and you will be better understood asking it this way). The ATM is an option although the exchange rate is not favorable. If you are not staying in a hotel, you can ask our hotel Voila Centro what they recommend. It is not recommended to exchange money at the airport as they have the worst rates available. - This one is important: toilet paper does not go into the toilet. Yes, all toilet paper instead needs to go into the garbage can no matter where you are. The plumbing in the city is very old and cannot handle paper. You will thank us for this. - The informal economy in Cartagena is focused on selling things to tourists. Water, hats, sunscreens, magnets, purses, cigars, electric adapters, you name it, someone will try to sell it to you. Do not feel bad for refusing them. Just say "No gracias" and keep walking. Finally, we found this helpful list that will set you up for success: https://www.alongdustyroads.com/posts/things-to-know-before-you-visit-cartagena

Question

Will my cell phone work?

Answer

Generally yes. Depends on what service and plan you have, though. If you want the best service, we recommend switching out your SIM card. Other strategies are to ask what the WIFI is whenever you enter an establishment (most places will have WIFI available for guests) and to download Google Maps of Cartagena. We will be sharing a folder via Google Maps to all guest with key spots we will be going to.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes! Please check out our Schedule page here on Zola to see our other events. Some events are paid for by the couple, and some will have a charge for each guest. Events that have an additional cost will be clearly marked on the Schedule page.

Question

Will we be outside?

Answer

Yes, both the wedding and reception will be outside. The spaces are shaded by large trees. August is not the rainy season in Cartagena, and so in the off-chance it rains, it will be very limited sprinkles that the tree blocks. It will be HOT, but as the tree offers shade, and the sun will set at 6:22 pm, it will cool off.

Question

What should I really wear during all of the festivities?

Answer

Our priority, aside from saying "I do", is giving you a memorable and fun experience. Therefore, we want you as comfortable as possible. As we have said before, it is HOT in Cartagena. You will sweat. A lot. Please hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. As for the wedding, come ready to dance, sweat, and have a good time. Men do not have to, nor feel obligated to, wear a suit. Best Men will be in Guayaberas. Wear light clothing. Be comfortable. Heck, if you want to bring a change of clothes during the wedding because you sweat like Usher at the Super Bowl, please do.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Food that contains nuts or shellfish will have signs to let guests know that they have allergens. Please let Cristina or Mike know if you have other allergens.

Question

I have some time to kill before all of the wedding celebrations. What should I do?

Answer

Consider yourself lucky! You have even more time to explore this beautiful city. We will put together a list of recommendations for you. If you already know what other activities you would like to do or want other suggestions, reach out to our planners. Their website has information or you can email them at reservations@two.travel. https://two.travel/ NOTE: When walking around, do not be intimidated by local Cartagenans trying to sell goods to you. This is a large part of the informal economy and common practice. If you are not interested, do not be rude, but also do not feel guilty. You can just say, "No gracias."
