When we both first met it was at a church event at Alton Baker Park. Both of us had similar thoughts as we sized each other up (never really introducing ourselves to the other). Michaela's thought: "Great....just what we need another frat boy coming around." Brishon's thought: "What kinda weird girl brings her dog to a church event."

Due to Brishon's friendly nature and extroverted ways, its no surprise that signal's were misunderstood within our friend group of who he liked. As our friendship was growing and his frustrations towards his intentions being questioned, Brishon and I joked about concocting a scheme to convince everyone what we were actually secretively dating.

Moments we started noticing the attraction: 1) Anyone else ever notice how intimate it is to dye another persons hair?? No, just me? Well both of us admitted later to each other that the day I helped dye Brishon's hair for his first ever Halloween costume, a spark was certainly felt and hard to ignore. 2) Anyone who knows Michaela, knows how seriously she takes planning/hosting events. So it won't come as a surprise that when Michaela was hosting a Halloween party last year that she became stressed out and frustrated. Luckily Brishon noticed and opted to check in and help ease Michaela's stress that night, not realizing he became Michaela's Knight in Shinning armor. 3) Another stand out moment for me was when Brishon proclaimed unashamedly one night, while everyone was over for a movie night, that he too was down to watch the Barbie Rapunzel movie that a few of us girls joked about watching (since it is the BEST Barbie movie of all time). A few of us girls protested saying "we really don't have too" to which Brishon responded "the older Barbie movies are actually good so I'm down". 4) Being blunt can often rub people the wrong way, well not with Brishon. Brishon noticed a spark one day when having a deep spiritual conversation with Michaela and two other people. In the discussion Brishon didn't feel like he was really being heard or getting straight forward answers. Michaela (not being one to mince words) finally spoke up and just told him the brutal truth. Brishon was immediately taken with how Michaela wasn't afraid to be straightforward and call people higher especially when it came to God.
