It's a situation we’re watching closely. We’ll ask that all of our guests be fully vaccinated (whatever that means by August, 2022), and we'll likely ask guests to test before coming to the wedding. We sincerely hope that by the summer, this whole situation will be a thing of the past and all we have to worry about is how hard to party! As the COVID-19 situation evolves, we'll be posting updates to this page regularly. So check back for new information. And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Old Westbury Golf and Country Club is super special to Liz's family. Her sister and brother-in-law, Tania and Evan, are members, and her nephew Michael and niece Emma had their Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations there! Emma's first birthday was there, too! We love it for its history and also its large outdoor space, which can act to keep us all safe in the event of COVID-19 issues. Some of the history: it was originally the family estate of William C. Whitney, an American political leader and financier, and Secretary of the Navy in Grover Cleveland's second presidential administration (1885-1889). The property originally housed racing stables and prized Angus cattle, but it eventually became a 27-hole golf course and country club. More cool history: the 187-foot-high Tower at OWGCC aided in WWII enemy aircraft lookout. Make sure to look around you as you walk through the venue and take in the architecture. You'll see lots of old photos and artwork.
Black tie optional. So fancy!
While we love all of the children in our lives, our wedding and reception will be an adults-only event.
-Ketubah signing -Bedeken (veiling) -Vows under the chuppah -Circling -Breaking of the glass -Yichud -The Hora (dance during the reception) To learn more about these traditions, this website is a great resource: https://www.brides.com/jewish-wedding-traditions-4783360
Yes! We want ALL of our guests singing and dancing the Hora (circling the bride and groom while singing "Hava Nagila") while we are lifted into the air on chairs and praying that we won't fall off. If you want to learn it beforehand, that's awesome! Don't worry, it's super easy, and a lot of the time ends up just being people running around in a circle. Here are some guides: -Hava Nagila lyrics can be found here: https://makingmusicfun.net/htm/f_mmf_music_library_songbook/hava-nagila-history-and-lyrics.php -And an instructional video with the music and dance can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww5uSzT0Wes
There will be valet parking at our event, and it is free and plentiful. Please follow the signs to the clubhouse and a valet will take your car at the entrance. We do recommend getting an Uber, Lyft, or car service (abundant in this area) if you plan to drink a lot, though.
Yes, our venue is happy to accommodate most dietary needs, so please let us know in advance.
Please come hungry and hydrated! We'll be serving passed hors d'oeuvres and have multiple stations during cocktail hour, followed by a three-course plated dinner and dessert. Open bar throughout the event.
We absolutely encourage all of our guests to take pictures of the ceremony and reception and post them on social media! But make sure to tag all the photos with the hashtag #MesMerized so that we can easily find them!
You may have received a save the date already, to give you plenty of time to plan ahead! You will receive your official invitation two to three months prior to the wedding, which will include an RSVP card with multiple meal options. We ask that ALL guests RSVP on that card, no later than July 15th, 2022. However, if you want to shoot us an additional text that you're down to come or that you can't make it, we will appreciate the early heads up!
