Rock Island is located on the Mississippi River on the Western edge of Illinois and is one of five cities that make up the "Quad Cities" (that is correct, five cities).
Davenport is right across the Mississippi River (which runs east-west in the Quad Cities) from Rock Island.
Highways 280, 74, and 88 (John Deere Road/Blackhawk Road), all connect you to Rock Island.
Crossing the river requires you to cross the Centennial Bridge (downtown Rock Island), the I-74 Bridge (downtown Moline), or the Arsenal Island Bridge (near downtown Rock Island).
