Meggan & Tristan met in 7th grade science class. They had the same fifth period class and Meggan’s friends told her there was a cute boy that they were too nervous to say hi to. Never too shy to make a new friend, Meggan walked right over to Tristan in neon orange converse and cargo capris and introduced herself. Tristan simply said hi and then went right back to try and focus on his work. Instead of getting the clue, Meggan continued to talk his ear off until the bell rang. They didn't talk much after that until they both volunteered to work on an extra credit project regarding the conservation of the Little Miami River. They had to present to both their class and later at a scientific conference to real scientists. Tristan and Meggan had to frequently work during lunch and after school, and during this time they became friends. Then they never stopped hanging out. They became best friends, but nothing more until they started dating when they were sophomores in high school.
That day started as an 'anniversary date day.' Tristan has this habit of planning a whole activity-packed day to celebrate their anniversaries. The date started with going to lunch at Carrabba's after he got off work. While Meggan thought this was an odd and fancy choice for lunch, she didn't question it too much. Afterwards she dragged Tristan into a local sweets store for caramel popcorn and a coke, which they snacked on in his car while simply enjoy talking to each other without a care. Then they went to an escape room and lost...by one minute. Meggan was literally entering in the last code when the time ran out (yes she is still salty about it haha). Then Tristan wanted to exchange anniversary gifts in Olde Milford. He said they were going to dinner. Instead, he pulls up to the Little Miami River. This was the place where they first became friends when working on their science project together, where they took senior prom pictures, and a place they would meet to eat lunch during weekends home from college to spend time together. Standing by the river that started it all, they exchanged gifts. Meggan proceeded to give him swim trunks and socks with their dog's face on them. He loved them but confidently stated that "My present beats yours." He pulls out a large box with an iPad inside, which Meggan was thrilled but confused over. Tristan then admitted, "Okay that's an early birthday present from your parents, you have to close your eyes for my present." She did, and he got down on one knee and told her to open her eyes. Meggan was instantly sobbing so hard that Tristan couldn't even ask the question. After a minute he asked, "Does that mean yes?" Meggan told him that he hadn’t asked. Once then he finally asked, her answer was obvious.
