Megan attended as an evening student while working during the day in order to also get her degree from The Citadel. Megan and her father both currently work for the school. Her father in Fundraising, and Megan in Alumni Affairs. Megan is in charge of The senior ring presentation, junior ring sizing, replacement rings and resizing for alumni as well as The Band of Gold Program and The Sword Legacy Program. Take some time before or after the wedding to take a look around!

Fort Moultrie, one of the oldest still-standing forts along the Eastern Seaboard, is a "must see" destination for history buffs. The low-laying coastal structure, which encompasses a large parcel of Atlantic Ocean bordering beaches on the southern tip of Sullivan's Island, began as a Revolutionary War defense before being transformed into a secondary Confederate stronghold during the Civil War.
The USS Yorktown Museum is one of Megan's absolute FAVORITE museums in Charleston! Maybe it's because she comes from a Naval family, or maybe its the amazing history you get to learn and experience while you're there. Who knows! The USS YORKTOWN (CV-10) was the tenth aircraft carrier to serve in the U.S. Navy and was commissioned in 1943. Nicknamed the “Fighting Lady,” the YORKTOWN served the nation for almost three decades, earning the Presidential Unit Citation and 11 battle stars for her service in World War II and an additional five battle stars during the Vietnam War. In 1968, the USS YORKTOWN recovered the Apollo 8 space capsule and astronauts after the first mission to orbit the moon. Visitors to the YORKTOWN can get inside a replica capsule and take their own trip into space with the Apollo 8 Experience. The USS YORKTOWN was decommissioned in 1970 and became the first ship of the Patriots Point fleet when the museum opened in 1976.

A family business born in the South where biscuits are king! They are a fast-casual restaurant serving ridiculously delicious, over-the-top creative comfort meals, complimented by Southern hospitality and an entertaining guest experience. Don't let the line out the door scare you, they use all the space in the restaurant so the line goes out the door since it doesn't wrap around the inside. The food is SERIOUSLY worth the wait. Check out the menu! Megan and Tyler's favorite is the Sea Biscuit!
Another Citadel Grad owned business, and EASILY one of our favorite date spots, is Coleman Public House. They have Gouda Mac & Cheese that is to die for and we cant forget their amazing burgers and Aloha Aoli fries! You have to try it for yourself!
Page’s Okra Grill combines simple Southern cuisine with the casual elements of traditional coastal seafood. While their kitchen partners with local farms and seafood suppliers, their bar program follows suit and focuses on local spirits and craft breweries. Come join them for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner and let their professional and courteous staff show you true Southern hospitality. If you wan't to try this Local favorite, you better expect a wait! Page's is constantly busy, but the food is worth it. They do not take reservations, but Charleston has a lot to offer food wise and we certainly appreciate the many options!
This restaurant is solely Edgar Allan Poe themed and has amazing food to boot! Not widely known is that the famous poet, Edgar Allan Poe's connection to Charleston. As a child his mother traveled with theatre and she settled on the stages of Charleston acting and Singing until her early death which he often writes about in his poems. After dropping out of college for financial reasons, he later enlisted in the Army. Private Poe received orders to sail south to relieve the garrison posted at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan’s Island, near Charleston. Poe’s restless mind and emotional instability forced him to seek solace elsewhere. During his more than one year at Fort Moultrie, Poe wrote poetry about a star and its connection to theological principles found in the Koran. His Lowcountry inspiration would wait fifteen years to appear in his fiction. He also had a relationship with the daughter of a prominent low-country family, the Ravenels! (Hence the Ravenel Bridge and the town of Ravenel)
Shem Creek is the HAPPENING place to be for locals and visitors alike. This waterfront area includes everything from Kayak and Paddle board rentals, to bars, restaurants, catamaran rides and more! Don't forget to see if restaurants take RESERVATIONS as it is a very popular place! Luckily November is the "off season" but do we even really have an "off season" here? Tyler and I frequent the boardwalk and walk down to the end and watch the sunset and explore the paths after a good date night.
The Pitt Street Bridge, also known as the Cove Inlet Bridge and the Cove Inlet Causeway, was once the sole means of crossing the Charleston harbor from Mount Pleasant to the beach at Sullivan’s Island. Now it stands as a coastal passage for exercise, leisurely strolls and fishing. Another great spot for a nice walk and to watch the amazing Charleston sunset over Sullivan's island!
