Parents of the Bride
Tom and Marsha McGuigan are celebrating 41 years of marriage. Together, they have loved and supported Megan unconditionally and have been a strong foundation on which to lean. Megan is grateful for all the life lessons they have taught her, the words of wisdom they have given, and for always being there (even when they were the only parents at a dance performance in Disney World).
Parents of the Groom
Kelly and Anna Kittrell are also celebrating 41 years of marriage this year. As the eldest of their three children, JT was the test-case for the parenting techniques they perfected with Sarah and Katharine. Their unconditional love and support and their willingness to push JT--often in the face of his intransigence--have made him into the man he is today.
Matron of Honor
Kelly is Megan's oldest and dearest friend. From their days at Cypress Creek High School to their travels across Europe, Kelly and Megan have always been by each other's side. It is Kelly's adventurous and infectious spirit that has created many firsts for Megan. From late-night laser tag to pranks on Kelly's husband, Cody, Kelly has been a part of many firsts in Megan's life and she could not start this new chapter without her.
Best Man
Brad is JT's oldest friend, high school debate partner, and law school roommate. Equal parts brilliant debater and improv comic, Brad's sharp wit and self-deprecating style have always made him a crowd favorite--both in high school and with law students. Brad's influence on JT is difficult to overstate--from the debate community, to politics and pop culture--many of JT's core beliefs were informed by their friendship. After JT was the officiant at Brad's wedding, it is an honor to have Brad return the favor as the best man at JT's wedding.
Bridesmaid
Ashley and Megan first met in the summer of 2008 at Love Advertising. While work may have brought them together, their friendship quickly extended beyond the office. Ashley shares Megan's love of travel and is always 'in' for the next adventure. From Harry Potter rides at Universal Studios to sipping Champagne under the Eiffel tower in Paris, many of Megan's favorite memories have come with Ashley by her side.
Groomsman
Another Longhorn, Devon was introduced to JT by his future wife (and fellow law student) Kathryn at a party on November 1, 2008. A former baseball jock turned federal prosecutor, Devon possesses an enviable combination of athletic prowess, politician-caliber hair, and a disarming earnestness. Despite his affinity for the hated Bulldogs, the Athens native and his wife Kathryn are among JT's best friends.
Bridesmaid
Caitlin and Megan's friendship first began with laughter and it's that infectious laugh that continues to this day. From late-night conversations and spontaneous road trips to NOLA to cheeky cheeky's and making memories in the little moments in between, Caitlin's presence is always sure to bring out a smile. Megan is honored to have Caitlin in her life and standing with her on such a special day.
Groomsman
Yet another law school classmate turned lifelong friend, James served as JT's guide to living in Houston. Among the smartest people JT knows, James seemingly has a working knowledge of any topic--none too esoteric--making him a regular in the Jeopardy! contestant pool and JT's favorite trivia partner. James shares JT's love of sports, politics, wine and amusing twitter posts.
Bridesmaid
Katharine is the younger sister of the groom (by 8 years) and the youngest of the Kittrell family. Unlike Sarah, Katharine shares many qualities with JT, as she participated in debate in high school, enjoys politics, attended Wake Forest, and is now a practicing lawyer. Despite the age difference, JT loves and appreciates Katharine's determined spirit and passion for arguing.
Groomsman
JT and John became close friends in the spring of 2009, bonding over a shared perspective on the inanities of law school life, Dallas sports, and eventually a moot court partnership. As an opera singer turned federal prosecutor, John possesses a unique combination of musical talents and an incisive legal mind. While their relationship originated out of a shared affinity for dry humor, they became fast and lasting friends.
Bridesmaid
Sara and Megan first met in the spring of 2009 through Love Advertising. A few months later, a trip to Austin, Texas for Megan's 23rd birthday would cement their friendship. It would be the adventures to come in Kauai, Hawaii where their friendship grew, from surfing and SUP rides to getting lost on scooters throughout the island. Sara is an amazing friend - both a wonderful listener and a sounding board - and her sarcastic sense of humor means her presence guarantees a good time.
Groomsman
Josh was JT's colleague at Liskow & Lewis from 2012-2019. Josh's unflappable trustworthiness, legal acumen, and a restrained but cutting sense of humor helped them break down the barrier between "co-worker" and "friend." From eating alligator at a LSU tailgate to canoeing down a river on his bachelor party, many of JT's "out of comfort zone" experiences have come with Josh at his side. Despite what Josh's wedding website may have told you, they are more than just "co workers."
Bridesmaid
Sarah is the younger sister of the groom (by three years) and the middle child of the Kittrell family. Sarah and JT grew up together, attending swim meets, playing soccer, and taking family vacations. Their personality differences are legion--Sarah is an excellent athlete (JT is not), does not enjoy politics at all (JT very much does) and attended Vanderbilt as opposed to Wake Forest. Despite those differences, the two siblings have always had a warm and caring relationship, though JT admits he needs to be better about calling her!
Groomsman
Ryan is the older brother of Megan by 2 years (although as a leap year baby, isn't he technically younger?). Ryan first attended Texas Tech University, with Megan following in his footsteps a few years later. It was their time in Lubbock, 8 hours from home, that shifted their dynamic from siblings to friends. Megan has always admired Ryan's all-in attitude, intelligence, and understated sense of humor. JT is honored to have Ryan by his side.
Officiant
Adam is a law school classmate who, along with his wife Katie, became JT's lifelong friend. Hailing from Chicagoland, the adopted Texan combines JT's passion for sports (and competition generally) with a love of board games, musical theater, and early 2000s romantic comedies. Adam's playful affect and charisma make him a natural fit to serve as both a groomsman and the master of ceremonies.
