Back in September of 2019, Gina was working as a Police Officer in the same town that Dominic was a mechanic in. She went down to the garage to get her patrol vehicle serviced, and that was the first time she saw Dominic. They talked for a little while, and threw some jokes back and forth, and then Gina left. Gina went back to the Police Department and told one of their mutual friends "I'm going to marry that boy.", and she was right.

When Gina and Dominic first started dating, Gina mentioned that she loved the Spanish Moss trees and always thought she would get married under one since she was a little girl. Fast forwarding to July of 2023, Dominic took Gina to Wilmington, NC to celebrate her birthday. He took her to Airlies Garden, which was the most beautiful place Gina had ever seen, and home to one of the oldest Spanish Moss trees in the country. It was about 9:30 in the morning, there was a light drizzle and no one else around. They walked the entire garden and finally got to the oldest Spanish Moss tree. Dominic told Gina to stand in front of that tree so he could get her picture, and when she turned around, he was down on one knee. It was the most perfect moment.
