Ross and I met while working for the same company in Washington DC. Since we had separate roles, our day-to-day didn't often cross paths, so I can remember the day that Ross walked over to our department. He was looking for people to play for his soccer team that night and I decided to join. Since I was also on a soccer team that often needed players, Ross and I started spending many nights per week alternating between teams. In the countless bike rides and car rides around the district, we connected over our love of the outdoors, music, and sports (except Duke, go Terps). Before long, week night soccer games turned into weekend adventures and the start of our journey began.
A mountain top or where we first met? A decision I mulled over for weeks. DC has always been a special city to Meagan and I. It’s one where we spent the early years of our relationship and made lifelong friends. Some of those friends were instrumental in helping my plan stay a surprise. After a day of exploring DC, we headed down to the Lincoln Memorial for sunset to "meet some friends” before dinner. Little did Meagan know, there would be no friends waiting to meet us. Instead, awaiting our arrival was a photographer who was holding down the spot where I would ask Meagan to marry me. After a flurry of congratulatory FaceTimes, we jumped in an Uber to Chinatown to celebrate with our DC crew.
