Like most modern love stories, I found Brett on a dating website - he had a short but sweet bio, similar interests, and pictures of his beautiful blue eyes and a fluffy pup! So I took the chance and sent him a quick hello! He responded back, and thus the conversation began. After a few weeks of corresponding, I asked Brett if he would like to meet in person. We decided to try a hike, but of course, the weather wasn't cooperating. So we decided to go mini-golfing - still outside but less mud. As we played mini-golf, we talked so much that I forgot to keep score on the first few - Brett later said I won, but I don't think we kept accurate scores. After our mini-golf, Brett and I decided to go for a late lunch, and I suggested Dutch's Daughter. He said he would follow me; however, I got us lost a few times (Brett later told me he thought I lived closer to Frederick and knew the area). Eventually, we got to the restaurant, where we shared more good conversation and delicious food. We continued to talk (text) over the next week and agreed to meet for a hike; however, Brett had to reschedule. Of course, I got nervous and thought he was bailing on me. Later in the day, he again texted, saying he really wanted to see me and felt bad rescheduling. For me, that showed me that was something special about Brett. We rescheduled and went on our hike the following weekend. As the weeks went on, we went to more dates, Wine Kitchen on the Creek, a winery, Brett making dinner, and then going to see Christmas lights. Throughout the next month of adventurous dates - some in person and others virtual (thanks Covid) and getting to know Brett, I fell in love, and it hasn't stopped since. Although we found each other through Match, I truly believe and know the real matchmaker was God. As a little girl and now woman into my thirties, I prayed for my future husband, asking God to prepare, protect, and love this special man. I am blessed to be able to share my life with my best friend.
It was a cloudy and cold November day at Adventure Park USA. I was waiting inside when in walked a blue-eyed brunette in an oversized white jacket. I was dumbstruck and speechless, so Meghan had to be the first to actually say hi. She then proceeded to mercilessly beat me at 2 rounds of 18 hole mini-golf. Even though I am competitive, I hardly noticed as I was enjoying the conversation with this woman. As a thank you, I offered to buy a meal for the champion golfer. Meghan said she knew of a local restaurant. Since I mistakenly thought she was from the area, I thought I would trust her to get us to the destination and followed behind her in my car. We may have gotten lost a time or two, but we eventually figured it out. Shortly after the new year, there was a time where Meghan and I didn't see each other due to Covid. During those weeks, I constantly thought of Meghan. I abruptly realized there was something different about this incredible woman and our relationship. Even though we were apart, she had captured my heart, and I knew God had placed her in my life for a special reason. Over time, we continued falling for each other on our dates, including Sugarloaf Mountain, Bowling, Scavenger Hunts, several trips to Busch Gardens, and out-of-state visits to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, and Hawaii. We started meeting at local and state parks during the week to get to know each other and spend as much time together as possible despite living about 1.5 hours apart. In less than a year, I have put over 13 thousand miles onto my car for the various adventures with the woman I am blessed to get to marry. Every step of the way, Meghan has been captivating me with her brilliant smile and big heart. I am the luckiest man in the world to have found Meghan and thank God every day for answering my prayers for finding the love of my life. I cannot wait until I get to marry her and spend every God-given day together for the rest of our lives.
