Mo & Sky's first interaction took place almost 7 years ago on a canoe trip in Lafayette, IN. Skyler lived in Circle Pines Cooperative House at Purdue University, and Maureen was a new member at the sister house, Twin Pines. They spent the canoe trip interacting with mutual friends. But unfortunately Maureen's poor judgment meant she was already spoken for, and Skyler was too much of a gentleman to pursue anything further than casual acquaintances. Fast forward 2 years later, Skyler and Maureen re-connected during Breakfast Club festivities on campus (a football game tradition at Purdue that involves Halloween costumes). Luckily this time, donned in a dashing toga and adorable candy corn costume, the pair hit it off and the rest is history. After Maureen graduated, the next 3 years were a long-distance blur of late night phone calls, weekend visits, and train rides back and forth between Chicago and Goshen. Eventually, Maureen's career took her to a new job in Indiana and they were finally able to merge their lives together. Skyler proposed to Maureen in Mercer, Wisconsin at her family lake house. After an evening canoe ride, he asked her to marry him on the end of the pier overlooking the water. He surprised her by organizing his and her family to share in the special moment together. It was a beautiful proposal and a perfect beginning to the next chapter of their lives. Sky and Mo are beyond blessed with each other and are grateful that they get to spend the rest of their lives with their best friend and soul mate.
