Simone and Matthew met the same way most couples their age meet these days: online. But this isn't an advertisement for Hinge (even though it's the best app). This is, instead, an abridged version of how the couple came to be, where they've been, and where they're headed. Simone first struck up a conversation with Matthew over a Halloween costume he had worn in college. Matthew suggested that if she could guess what the costume was, he would take her on a date. Seeing as the name of his costume was quite literally in the caption of his photo, the two planned a date (Matthew would later inform Simone that he knew it was in the caption but wanted an excuse to go on a date then and there). Within a week of knowing one another and chatting through text, the two began dating - and only a month later, they knew deep down that they had found their other half. Yes, Simone is being cheesy while typing this. But Matthew said 'I love you' first, so there. Soon enough, the two had moved in together with Simone's first cat, Primrose. Not even two months later, Matthew decided one cat wasn't enough, and their second cat Colby came barreling into their lives in all of his orange glory (Prim was less excited about this, and remains that way two years later). Simone and Matthew took a "casual" trip to Savannah for their second anniversary. A "casual" evening drive to Tybee Island was planned, where the two sat in the sand and chatted the way they always do. While drawing in the sand, Simone started a game of 'Hangman'. Matthew wrote "_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?" Simone blanked for a second, as she does, and then pretty much blanked out the rest of the evening. Obviously Matthew proposed, because they're getting married. There were a lot of tears on Simone's end, okay? The couple still live in their very small apartment with their two very furry cats in their very crowded city of Atlanta. All the while, they save up and dream of the day when they can settle into a cozy life of suburbia, far away from the noise. Mostly, Matthew just wants a backyard to grill in, and Simone wants a workshop for Matthew so he stops getting oil on her vintage coffee table. And she would like to cash in on the grilled meat. But its a dream not too far away, and someday soon they'll be packing up and moving out. This was very clearly written by Simone, but that's okay because she's quite funny when you get to know her. Hopefully she saved enough creativity for her vows. And if they haven't said it a million times already - "We hope to see you there!"
