We met as kids after Hurricane Ike hit Houston. Both of us lived in an area that lost power and our schools were shut down for weeks. One day during this time, we both happened to see each other outside and stopped to chat. Little did we know that we had shared friends from middle school, we had a lot in common, and we lived a block away from each other. We immediately became fast friends and spent day in and day out together, even once school started up again. From then on, we considered each other best friends and would stay that way through college. There were always remarks and questions about our friendship being more, but we both joked at them and denied it. Eventually, we decided to take a shot at "more" and have never looked back. "There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends that become family."
After years of happiness, Matthew decided he could wait no longer. They planned a trip to Costa Rica, and to Matthew there could have been no better time. They set off on a beautiful rainforest hike that led down to a waterfall basin. Sara could tell that Matthew was nervous about something, but thought nothing of it. That is, until he dropped to one knee. And then dropped the ring itself.. It was found right away, but it makes for a great story!
