Karie was talking with a friend in the hallway of their apartment building when Matthew interrupted the conversation to talk with Karie. From that day forward they were inseparable.

Matthew officially asked Karie to be his girlfriend!

Karie met Matthew's parents on a trip to his hometown to go deer hunting. Though she was very nervous at first, Karie very quickly fell in love with his family!

Matthew met Karie’s parents for the first time at an SDSU football game. He clicked with her family right away, and it wasn't long before he was picking on Karie alongside her dad and sister.

Matthew and Karie began a long-distance relationship while Karie moved back home for her program's clinicals and Matthew moved to North Platte, NE to his grandmother’s house to start a summer internship.

Matthew moved back to Mitchell for his second year of college and Karie continued living with her parents while going through clinical.

Matthew took Karie engagement ring shopping for the first time. Karie thought that she would just be giving Matthew an idea of what she liked, little did she know, that Matthew bought her ring that same day!

Matthew graduated with an Associates Degree in Architectural Design and Building Construction. Karie graduated with an Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology. Three days later Karie passed her boards and became Karie Hanks R.T. (R).

Karie moved into an apartment with two roommates in Rapid City, SD right after graduation. Soon after, Matthew moved into the same apartment complex, putting an end to the long-distance!

Matthew finally asked Karie to spend forever with him and, of course, she said YES!
