A true Texas barbecue experience about 20 minutes outside of Austin. It makes a great day trip and has live music on weekend evenings.
Fall Creek Vineyards in Driftwood
This is one of our favorite wineries, and it's conveniently located across the street from Salt Lick BBQ so you could make an afternoon of it! Tastings are $15 to $20 per person. They have a beautiful patio in the back and also sell small snack plates.

Detroit-style deep dish pizza. One of the best in Austin.
