A typical fall Michigan day around Halloween, my great friend Bennie invited me to come along with some of his friends to a Haunted House, Aimee happened to be one of the friends. I was interested in her immediately! In March, Aimee & I had plans to go to Riviera Maya, due to the Pandemic our trip was cancelled. Trip cancelled, time to scramble and thought how will I pull this off now? Thanks to Layla, and with Amazon’s help I ordered inflatable palm trees and an ocean photo back drop scene, the idea was Layla & I were planning on turning our basement into a family Beach Party! We figured, the worlds on lockdown so we needed to create our own beach to enjoy. March 22nd, a beautiful Spring night-we had a family dinner, we laughed and we’re making the most of our new lives dealing with a global pandemic. After dinner I had Layla turn the heat up; Aimee & I are cleaning up and eventually Aimee mentions how warm the house is feeling-of course Layla & I initially down play this. After dinners cleaned up & the heat continued rising, Layla pops out of her room with her sunglasses, bathing suit & towel-Aimee picks up on this questioning Layla, I then follow Layla’s lead and put on my swim trunks, sunglasses and towel-Beach Party here we come! To set the scene, at this point Layla & I had the basement all set, tv on with a beach scene, waves crashing, wind blowing, inflatable palm trees, beach blanket laid out, margarita’s ready to go! We walk Aimee downstairs with her eyes closed, have her sit for a few minutes taking in the sounds and allowing her imagination to run wild, just then she opens her eyes and to her surprise the Beach Party was moved from a beautiful Mexican Beach to our basement! With Layla’s help, as were enjoying our own private Beach Party, taking in the sights & sounds, marvelling at our creativity, Layla slyly begins recording Aimee & I talking and laughing-the mood is perfect & timing exactly right-here I go, and lucky for me, SHE SAID YES!
