In July of 2021, Kaskade had just announced his first show post-lockdown, and it would be at the newly built SoFi stadium in Los Angeles. Not realizing they had mutual friends, Marylou and William decided to celebrate the wane of COVID by getting tickets for this inaugural show. It was there they were first introduced by their good friend (and rave family) Mike Hatter. From July to December, Will and Marylou would cross paths at various shows and festivals: Hard Summer, CRSSD, Kaskade at the Park, Escape, FrightMvs, Dreamstate, DayMvs, and more, each time making more fun memories together. Despite spending more and more time each time, it would eventually take Will to fly from San Diego up to Sacramento in mid December to visit Marylou and convince her to be his girlfriend. This was the start of Will and Marylou traveling to each other, spending weeks at a time at each others homes and making use of their abilities to work remotely.
Three days after Marylou’s birthday, Will had invited a few friends to join them for a belated birthday brunch at one of their favorite brunch rooftop spots in San Diego. Little did Marylou know that Will had planned something special… Under the beautiful sunlit sky, the house DJ began to play one of Marylou’s favorite Odesza songs, one with a lot of drumming in it. But as the drumming got louder, Marylou realized an actual drumline marching up the stairs. As soon as she turned to point it out to Will, he was down on one knee gazing at her. For the longest, most beautiful minute of their lives, Will invited Marylou to spend the rest of their lives together, in the company of their friends and the most talented drumline in the world.
