Max and Mary-Margaret met in 2019 while living in Washington, DC and working in the U.S. House of Representatives. Little did they know Mary-Margaret’s office was just above Max’s, and they often used the same elevator, at the same time. Max says when she first walked on the elevator her sailors mouth caught him off guard, and Mary-Margaret says that he was so cute he was hard to miss. For weeks after, they often ran into each other on the elevator. After each meeting, Mary-Margaret went back to her office and talked incessantly about the “elevator boy”, while Max informed his coworkers about the “elevator girl”. About a month of run-ins later, Mary-Margaret hadn’t seen Max in a few weeks and was sure he was dead – or worse – fired. Luckily, that wasn’t the case. Mary-Margaret had an early meeting one morning and was waiting by the elevators when a familiar voice came behind her. She turned around and there he was – fully employed and very much alive. Max looked at Mary-Margaret and said “I’ve been looking for you everywhere” and that was all it took to start forever.
McCall is easily Mary-Margaret’s favorite place. Over Memorial Day weekend, Max and Mary-Margaret’s families got together for a fun mountain getaway. On Saturday, it was pouring rain but that didn't stop everyone from getting together for brunch and shopping. While getting drinks at Shore Lodge, Max asked to “show” Mary-Margaret the fish tank in the basement which wasn't out of the ordinary, but as they started to walk outside, she knew something was up. And thankfully, the weather had entirely cleared up. Of course she was carrying a beer and when Max grabbed it and chugged it, Mary-Margaret asked, “you’re not doing what I think you are…are you?” Max smiled in response and started walking out on the dock. There, Max got down on one knee and Mary-Margaret about passed out. Champagne toasts and lots of hugs followed, while Mary-Margaret was DELIGHTED to finally be added to the Coker family group chat.
