You’re Invited

Marlen and Nathan met in 2019 during their internship at Volkswagen in Chattanooga, TN, However, to this day how they met is still disputed by the couple. Together, they enjoy traveling, playing with their dog Koda, and spending time with friends and loved ones. Marlen's POV: Volkswagen had a pretty well connected intern group that was very welcoming of new interns as they came in. So one day just like any other, my friend Connor stopped by my desk to ask if I was ready to head to lunch. Except this time, right behind him stood the most shy looking brunette boy. His shirt read "Nathaniel." This quiet individual didn't introduce himself so I asked "Oh are you the new intern?" to which he quietly responded only "Yeah." As the days went on, we got to know each other and shared some good laughs. I quickly learned he was definitely not shy. Then one day during an intern outing, I vividly remember just looking at Nathan and knowing at that moment that I liked him! Nathan’s POV: (First time we met) Marlen walked up to where I was standing and examining a car at Volkswagen. She looked amazing and intimidating in her all black, professional outfit. Marlen examined the car with the group and then left. I quickly asked my coworker and friend Vianney who she was and she wasn’t sure, she just knew that Marlen worked in the Assembly department. The interns always ate lunch together at Volkswagen. (Second time we met) A few days later I was on the way to lunch with Connor and they stopped by her desk. I didn’t want to interrupt and introduce himself while Marlen and Connor were talking. Marlen eventually introduced herself while I awkwardly stood there waiting. After I responded and introduced himself the group left for lunch. Marlen and I fell for each other quickly and started dating a few weeks later.

I (Marlen) am a huge Mumford & Sons fan. So when M&S announced their tour date in Nashville, TN, I knew I had to go. Problem was finding another fellow fan. I asked Nathan if he was a fan because I wanted to go to this concert. He said he was and would go with me! So fast forward to the day, we set off to the concert, had a great time and he asked me out to one of my favorite songs! Turns out Nathan wasn't even a big fan to begin with, he just accepted so he could go with me!

Nathan and I have a tradition where we plan a surprise birthday destination trip for the other. We pick the destination, the itinerary, activities, and everything- we just tell the other what to pack! So for my birthday, Nathan planned the trip to Napa, California. From the moment we moment we got there, everything was perfect and romantic. Nathan planned every detail. We toured wineries of all sorts of different architectures and regions and ate the most delicious restaurants.. So, we get to Castello di Amorosa- a beautiful tuscan inspired castle. We had a beautiful view and enjoyed good wine. Afterwards, we went to tour the castle. Nathan was insistent on getting to the top of the castle, so he was rushing everywhere trying to find it. Meanwhile, I was struggling to keep up in my heels on the cobblestone. When we finally make it to the top, Nathan says, "Let's take a picture!" So he sets up our go pro and we pose. As we're standing there for the picture, he gets down on one knee and proposes! I was in complete shock and emotion before I finally say yes! By far the most beautiful moment in our lives. Nathan and Marlen are both so excited to start the next phase of their lives together and can't wait to celebrate with you in October!
