We are thrilled to gather with our loved ones and celebrate our love

Garrett transferred to NMU in 2017 from Michigan Tech. We both were involved in the ministry Cru so we knew of each other, but didn't meet until I bumped into him and my older brother, David, on campus when he was visiting before transferring. Garrett says he can still remember seeing me zooming around campus on my tiny periwinkle moped.

We didn't start dating or hanging out for over a year after Garrett transferred to NMU. After a breakup and several other life events we started to have deeper conversations and realized we connected on a lot of things. From the get-go we knew we'd be serious, and Garrett ended up meeting my family only a month into dating.

We had been talking about getting married very seriously for about a year and Garrett planned our engagement to happen while my family was visiting from Arizona. I started to be suspicious when I knew his family would be in town as well, and he very adamantly wanted us to hike at a specific trail in Grand Rapids. Sure enough, we went for a short hike in the beautiful fall colors, and he pulled me aside and got down on one knee to give me the most gorgeous emerald ring and ask me to marry him.
