If you have a free day before or after the wedding this is the top sight to see in our opinions! Banff National Park is in the Canadian Rockies, and has stunning landscapes, turquoise lakes, diverse wildlife, great hikes for the adventurous and a cute town to walk around for the less adventurous. Make sure to bring a jacket because it can be more chilly than Calgary. Note: This is a full day activity and is located about 1.5 hours away.
The Calgary Pride Parade will be happening right outside of the hotel where the wedding will be held in the morning of Sept 1st! Time and date may change as it’s not quite official yet but expect lots of activities to be happening downtown
You can walk directly onto this street from the Marriott Hotel. This is a vibrant pedestrian mall renowned for its historic architecture, trendy boutiques, diverse dining options, and cultural venues, offering a lively and dynamic urban experience.
Go up the Tower to see panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains from the observation desk. Its is free to go up the tower if you book a lunch or dinner reservation at the revolving restaurant. The Calgary Tower is a 2 minute walk from the Hotel.
TD Square is a shopping Centre which is a 10 min walk away from the hotel. Inside the shopping center on the top floor you can check out the Devonian Gardens. These are tropical botanical gardens with fishponds and exotic trees. You can go into the Hudson Bay store and go up to the second floor to access the mall. There is a food court in the mall as well.
The Glenbow Museum focuses on Western Canadian history and culture. It is right next to our Venue and entry is free (Reserve a time on their website).
This is scenic walking trail along the Bow River. It features beautiful landscapes, public art installations and is only a 15 min walk away from the hotel!
Quirky Inglewood is home to shops selling vintage furniture, indie fashion and rare vinyl, and offers an eclectic dining scene spanning Vietnamese, Mediterranean and modern Canadian cuisine. The Esker Foundation and indie galleries show contemporary art, while city history is chronicled at the 1875-built Fort Calgary. Music venues like Festival Hall stage folk and alternative gigs
This is one of Ben and Marissa's favorite activities in Calgary. Make sure to go check out the zoo's newest resident - The Polar Bears! You can hop on Calgary's C-Train: the blue line (4 min walk from hotel, 7 min train ride) to go directly to the Zoo. You take the blue line back to the hotel as well. This is a living history museum that transports visitors back in time. It’s an outdoor park that offering immersive experiences with historical exhibits and rides. Note: you can spend half a day here.
Drumheller, renowned as the "Dinosaur Capital of the World," attracts visitors with its fascinating dinosaur fossils, unique Badlands landscapes, and engaging paleontological experiences. Make sure the check out the Royal Tyrrell Museum which is one of the biggest dinosaur museums in the world Note: You can spend a half day or full day here.
Canmore, situated just outside of Banff National Park, is a charming town known for its stunning mountain views, outdoor recreation opportunities, and vibrant arts scene. Visitors can partake in activities like hiking and biking, and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of this mountain town. Note: This is 1.25 hours from Calgary and you can stop here on your way to Banff National Park if you are doing a day trip to the mountains
