Question

Do you have a block of hotel rooms in Calgary? Is the block of room at the same location as the Wedding? When should I book?

Answer

Yes - we have a block of rooms with a group rate for Saturday and Sunday night! The wedding and hotel block are both at the Downtown Marriott Calgary. You need to book the hotel through the link on this website to get the group rate. We only have a limited number of rooms so we are encouraging people to book as early as you can! In order to qualify for the group rate you will need to book by July 31st, 2024. If you need to cancel a room for any reason please try to cancel in advance as Marissa’s family is responsible for a certain amount of rooms and we want to make sure they are not held responsible. If you need to cancel the room you will need to call reservations 800-228-9290 or 403-266-7331 if you cant cancel online. You can also call reservations if you need help.

Question

How and when do I need to RSVP?

Answer

When: RSVP is due by July 31st How: You will receive a formal invitation by mail closer to the wedding. In this invitation there will be a link to RSVP online. You will need to RSVP for the Wedding and the Rehearsal dinner.

Who do I contact if I cannot book a room through the link?

Answer

We have a certain amount of rooms on hold and included as part of our block for Saturday and Sunday night. If you are having trouble booking a room, please let Ben or Marissa know and they will reach out to the hotel to increase the number of rooms in the block. Parking: What if I want to drive instead of Uber? Where do I Park?

Answer

If you are staying at the hotel you can use their valet system- 50 dollars a day. There are a few other options. Le Germain at 899 Center St - underground parking. Access from 9th Ave just before Center St. Rates are not posted. It’s close to the Marriott hotel. TELUS Convention Parking - 727 - 1 St SE. Enter off Macleod Trail South. Daytime weekdays 6am to 6pm: $4 per 1/2 hour and $23 overnight. Daytime weekends and holidays 6am to 6pm $1.50 per 1/2 hour and $5 dollars overnight. Evening- everyday day: 6pm to 6am: $1.50 per 1/2 hour and $5 to park overnight. Enter after 4pm and enjoy the evening rate. This parking lot is one block away from the downtown Calgary Marriott. These prices are in Canadian dollars.

Will the Pride Parade affect gettting to the Wedding if I dont stay at the hotel?

Answer

No! It will not!! We have planned the wedding to be held later so that the roads will be open during that time of the start of the wedding. We do suggest taking a Taxi or Uber instead of driving since parking is limited in downtown Calgary. The train will be running as well.

What is the dress code for our wedding?

Answer

The dress code is black tie encouraged. This includes knee length dresses or longer or a fancy jumpsuit for women. Males to have a jacket, suit or tuxedos preferred. Please no jeans or sneakers. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outside (weather permitting) and this time of year can be chilly so possibly a light sweater will be needed. Please refrain from wearing white or light blue as these will be the colors of the bride and the bridesmaids. Please feel free to wear any other color of your choosing.

Where are you registered?

Answer

We are so happy you are traveling to join us for our wedding and we do not expect any gifts. If you do want to give a gift we do have a registry connected to this website as well as a donation to our honeymoon fund or house fund. Please also put your name on the gift so we know who to properly thank. Please no physical gifts. Due to U.S. Customs we would be subject to a Fee to bring the gift back into the US. Cards are great to bring to the wedding! Please go through the registry and the gifts will be sent to our apartment.

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Please refer to the names on the invitation. We were limited on capacity in our venue and only could invite our nearest and dearest. If you have a question about your invitation please ask Marissa or Ben. Please note - The only kids that are invited will be close family that are participating in the wedding and are listed on the invitation.

What if I have an Allergy?

Answer

When you RSVP there will be an area where you can list your food allergies. We will be able to accommodate all common allergies (i.e. Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soya Free, Nut Free, etc.) If your allergy is complex please let our wedding planner Erica Mackler know by email: EricaMackler@hotmail.com ( Also the sister of the bride). We will do our best to accommodate your dietary restriction.

Do I need a Passport to go to Canada?

Answer

Yes! If you are traveling from outside of Canada, you will need a valid passport. Please apply as soon as possible if you need one as it can take some time to get a new one or get your current passport renewed. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of travel to enter Canada.

Can I take pictures throughout the Ceremony and Reception?

Answer

In order to ensure we are all FULLY present, we will be having an “unplugged ceremony”. We request that you silence or turn off your phones during the ceremony. We have hired an amazing photographer to capture this special moment. Before and After ceremony, please take as many pictures as you will like. Please try and refrain from posting on social media until the Bride and Groom can post. Thank you!
