Travel Note
For guests flying in, your destination airport is the Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ). Recommended connecting cities are Dallas Fort Worth, TX and Denver, CO. Airlines who fly to Montrose with reasonable layover times are typically United Airlines and American Airlines.

The Montrose airport is about an hour from Telluride. Telluride Express is a car service that picks up at Montrose airport and drops off at your desired destination. There is also car rental companies at the Montrose airport if that is your preference.

If you are staying in Telluride or Mountain Village, you do not require a car. There is a free gondola that connects Telluride and Mountain Village that you can ride to get between the two places. For people staying in Mountain Village your accommodation will explain further, but you will be able to access Dial a Ride (free taxi service within Mountain Village). There is plenty to do in walking distance of Telluride and Mountain Village. If you would prefer to rent a car, you will be able to explore more of the area outside of town. Long story short, a car is not a necessary. If you wish to have one, it makes travel from the airport easier.
