Mount Hood is an absolutely gorgeous area with tons of hiking, camping, snowboarding (almost year round!!!), and sightseeing. Manon and Zach spend a lot of time out here, mostly snowboarding, and have begun exploring the area for all the camping to be offered. If you decide to explore Mt Hood, please be cautious when tramping around the woods and DO NOT approach any SAMSQUANCHES if you see them. These gentle creatures are extremely delicate and shy, and mistreatment is punishable by death. However, if you do see one, TAKE A PICTURE!!!
Multnomah Falls is a beautiful waterfall that can be seen from the highway. However, its beauty is better appreciated when taking the short hike to its base. If you want to try hiking, be aware that it is almost always very busy, so parking during off hours is your best bet.
With all the hiking options in the area, we simply recommend that you use popular websites such as alltrails.com to find a hike that meets your desires and capabilities.
Grab a brew and enjoy the weather! Breweries in the Pacific Northwest provide some of the highest quality beer one can find. Zach urges midwesterners to abandon their preconceptions of "good" beer and try out at least one brewery in the Columbia Gorge or Portland.
Enjoy a view of the Columbia River from this 100-year-old observatory and museum.
Explore downtown Hood River and while you're at it, try Milk's Ice Cream!
Portland has so much to offer, if you can spend a day there you are unlikely to regret it. Find a food truck park and try any number of options; go to one of the city's gorgeous parks for a short hike; or hit up a brewery and finish with a trip to one of the many dispensaries ;)
