Perhaps the most iconic view in the whole city. It's special to us because it's where Jack first told Madie "I love you" and where he proposed. A trip to Stone Arch isn't complete without a walk around Gold Medal Park or a stop inside the Guthrie Theater- it's always open to the public. The Endless Bridge and the Amber Room provide more stunning views of the Mississippi.
The MIA is free and open to the public every day. The architecture of the museum itself rivals the art inside. The Walker has paid admission, except on Thursdays, and provides a more modern art collection. Across the street from the Walker is the Sculpture Garden where you can see the famous cherry & the spoon.
Minneapolis is known for its park system and abundant outdoor space. Four lakes join together- Cedar Lake, Lake of the Isles, Bde Maka Ska, and Lake Harriet- with lovely walk and bike trails and spaces to swim. To really win the day, begin with a stop at Isles Buns for a puppy dog tail, walk Lake of the Isles, and end with a dip in Bde Maka Ska.
If you know Madie, you know she sings the praises of the Minneapolis restaurant scene & must have been a food critic in a past life. Some of her & Jack's favorite's include: Colita, for Mexican food in the spirit of Oaxaca & outstanding cocktails Young Joni, for some of the best and most creative pizza in town (GF crust available for all you Jacks out there) Runyon's, for the best buffalo wings in the city limits and an important stop on the Spartz Family history tour Hewing Hotel, for a cocktail on the rooftop where we had our first date <3 Matt's Bar, for the iconic Jucy Lucy (often imitated, never replicated) Bar La Grassa, for life-changing pasta and the famous soft egg & lobster bruschetta
