Rapallo, Santa Margherita Ligure, or Chiavari. It is also possible to stay in other cities along the coast (toward Genova) and take trains + taxis to get around. We have made a list of some accommodations in the area to help get you started: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sZ11sCWyn8jxIlvNPiaVfF4KK9ymG5mo1baVvEiSMQA/edit?usp=sharing
Trains are the easiest and most common transport for the area. You can view schedules and book tickets online at: https://www.trenitalia.com/
Average temperatures are 20-25 degrees during June - good weather for relaxing by the sea and swimming; we don't recommend hiking during mid day.
- You can definitely get by with English; the locals are friendly and helpful. A few Italian words will get you far (grazie, buongiorno, ciao). - Italian breakfast consists of a pastry + coffee (will be hard to find a 'good' North American breakfast, so we recommend eating like a local! Plus you will save room for a nice Italian lunch :) - Restaurants typically close after lunch (approx. 14.30) until dinner (approx. 19.00) so try to find a place to each lunch by 13.30. Reserving ahead of time is recommended. - There are endless fascinating places just a short plane ride or train away. But if you're only here for a short time, there's plenty of amazing places all around Liguria to visit.
Most restaurants and taxis accept credit cards - but we recommend carrying cash for cafes and taxis (just in case).
