We have chosen to have our wedding on Little Gasparilla Island, a place that is near and dear to our hearts and we can't wait to share it with the ones we love the most. Little Gasparilla Island is a tropical bridgeless barrier island located halfway between Fort Myers and Sarasota. The island is only reachable by private boat or water taxi. There are no paved roads, only sandy pathways. Golf carts and walking are the main way of transportation throughout the island. The island offers miles if pristine beach and the waters are mostly calm. The beach is nearly deserted since you are only able to reach the island via boat. You may spot shorebirds, ghost crabs, giant sea turtles, and dolphins can be spotted offshore cruising up and down the beach front. Manatees drift beneath the docks and float offshore near the sandbar. The shells on the beach are plentiful and have a large amount of prehistoric sharks teeth free for collecting. Theres a sand bar just a ways out from land, that is home to sand dollars, whelks, starfish and conchs. Little Gasparilla Island offers privacy and tranquility and a rare sense of peace not found at many Florida vacation spots, truly a unique “old Florida” experience. There are NO STORES OR RESTURANTS on the island. The only commercial establishment is the golf cart rental shop. All groceries must be brought to the island with you on the water taxi. With there being limited options on the island it does take a little more planning, please dont be afraid to reach out with any questions.
