We met through mutual friends and talked off and on for some time and slowly began our relationship as friends. After knowing each other for about 7 months, we decided to take the next step in our relationship as a couple. We've been best friends and soul mates ever since.
The proposal took place in Chicago, IL on May 11th, 2018 with two of our best friends, Ashlee and Justin Wyant. The original plan was to propose in front of one of Chicago's famous fountains but Luis quickly learned that the weekend we were there, was prom. He had to come up with another plan and quick! The proposal moved to the navy pier which was absolutely gorgeous. To give some back story on this proposal, I fell sick a few days before we left for Chicago. I was already bummed that I had no taste buds and if you know me, you know I love food, especially Chicago's deep dish pizza. Luis loves to play disc golf and had wanted to check out a nearby course. We went to play a round and as I threw a disc, I broke a nail. Now, this may seem dramatic however, keep in mind I was very ill and already emotional. I did cry and happened to utter the words, "This is the worst day of my life'. Little did I know what would take place later that night. We arrive to the navy pier and I had requested that we take pictures since I wanted to have something new to hang on the wall at home. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Since it was too windy outside, we went into a building that held a beautiful garden and waterfall. My best friend, Ashlee had been pretending to take pictures but had been filming the whole time instead. From there, Luis got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes! We celebrated afterwards at a very extravagant steakhouse and the rest was history!
