The simple story is we were introduced by my mom. Luis was working as a deputy at the same school that my mom teaches at. Throughout the years of knowing that each other existed and my mom working her magic, we’d run into each other at school events and at my old job around the corner. He FINALLY took me out on our first date to World Fusion. But unbeknownst to me, he didn’t even realize it was a first date lol. Many many more sushi dates later and the rest is history. Shoutout to my mom and God for finding my soulmate!
It was December 15, 2023 and I had just walked across the stage at FSU for my Master’s degree graduation. We found a statute outside of the football stadium so we could take a few pictures before heading home. Ya know the typical family pictures, pictures with my mom and dad, pictures with my brother, and then it was Luis and I’s turn. That’s when he dropped down on one knee and said something (don’t ask because I think I blacked out). Next thing I know, I have a ring on my finger and a fiancé!!!!!!!!!! Here’s Luis’ recount of events that day. I kept forgetting everything. I forgot my wallet, my water bottle, literally everything. But I did remember the most important thing, the ring. I stuffed it in a tissue in my sock. I tried putting the whole box in my sock but Alli would’ve definitely noticed. I had a little speech prepared but I blacked out and forgot how to speak. The only thing I remember saying was “will you be with me forever?” A couple hours later on the drive home, I suddenly turned to Alli and exclaimed “did you say yes?” We all started laughing and Alli responded “YES!”
