When should I get my plane tickets?

The best time to book international flights to Europe is said to be 99 days in advance, but we recommend booking sooner if you find a good deal! Speaking of which, we watched flights from major airports this past year for our same dates and saw some great roundtrip deals on the app Hopper: – DC to Paris $350 on Tuesday, Nov. 6th – Boston to Paris $280 on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd – Denver to Paris $350 on Thursday, Nov. 15th – San Francisco to Paris $442 on Tuesday, Nov. 27th & Wednesday, Jan. 2nd Major airports like Seattle, LA & Chicago should be able to find similar deals if booked between November & February. A tip is to book tickets on a Tuesday or Wednesday for the best fares.

Train

From Paris

The most direct train on Friday is from Paris to Dole Ville train station (in Dole) leaving at 11:57 AM from Paris Gare Lyon train station, arriving at 1:58 PM. There are also several non-direct routes that arrive at similar times. If you choose this route, the direct high speed train (named TGV) from Paris to Dole takes about 2 hours, plus a 30 min shuttle ride from Dole to the venue. Some other route options: Direct high speed train (TGV) to Chalon railway station: 2 hours (+30 min drive by car or cab) High speed train (TGV) to Dijon then connection to Seurre: 3 hours (+12 min drive by cab, no car rental company in Seurre)

Shuttle

Book a shuttle ride through us

We will coordinate group shuttles depending on people's arrival times, so please update us with your travel info if you'd like to catch a ride on a shuttle from one of the local train stations (Dole, Chalon-sur-Saône, or Seurre). Train tickets can only be booked around 2-3 months in advance, so if you plan to take the train, we recommend booking your tickets when they become available in February/March. From there, we will identify the most cost-effective shuttle service to the chateau depending on who is arriving then, arrange a pickup, and transport you to the venue, about a ~30-45 minutes drive. If you choose this route, you will be splitting the cost of the shuttle with your fellow travelers.

Catching a cab & short trips in the area

Grabbing a cab at the train station is usually feasible but there may be no cab upon your time of arrival thus it is more reliable, easier to communicate and also cheaper to book a shuttle or cab in advance. More information at the link:

– Beaune (30 km, 30 min) – Dole airport (30 km, 30 min) – Dijon (40 km, 45 min) – Lyon (160 km, 90 mins) – Paris (350 km, 3.5 hrs) We recommend renting once you're outside of Paris to avoid traffic. Google “location voiture” (car rental in French) and (name of the city).

Housing Options

There are three options for accommodations: – Stay at Chateau de Varennes – Stay at Chateau de Lays, a cousin property to the wedding venue located 10 mins drive away – Book your own accommodations, whether that's a house rental, Airbnb or hotel in the area After visiting the venue, we strongly recommend staying at one of the two chateaus since the venue is fairly remote, and they are the closest and most convenient accommodations; we will be able to accommodate all guests between the two. More details provided below.

We have reserved the entire Chateau for the wedding weekend (Friday afternoon through Monday morning). We will be coordinating room bookings directly. Stay at Chateau de Lays

We have pre-reserved the entire Chateau for our guests. There are a variety of room and bed arrangements at this venue and breakfast is included. There is also an outdoor pool, tennis court, access to the garden and living room, and free WiFi is at the disposal of guests staying here. We will provide a free shuttle to/from the wedding venue on Friday and Saturday night.
