Winston knew of Mallory from a fairly young age after noticing her from the stands of a 7th grade volleyball game at the St. Michael gym (where Winston went to school) against Mt. Carmel (where Mallory went to school). Flash forward to the spring of 2011, and Winston saw Mallory again at the softball fields in Brookville after baseball practice. This time Mallory noticed Winston in his baseball uniform. Several hours later, Mallory made the first move and "accidentally" DM’d Winston on Facebook—way before DMs were even a thing. After a couple months of talking and hanging out, Mallory and Winston began dating on July 22, 2011. Over the next 4 years, Mallory and Winston thrived during the teenage years of high school by attending dances together, spending time with friends and family, and supporting each other through sports and school. After graduating from Franklin County High School, Winston and Mallory took their relationship to Cincinnati and attended Xavier University.

Mallory and Winston took advantage of Xavier University together. While making lifelong friends during their time, they enjoyed exploring Cincinnati, attending Xavier basketball games, and sharing in other experiences such as Alternative Breaks, hanging out at Dana Gardens, and competing against each other in the Flying Pig Half Marathon. Mallory participating in the Disney College Program during her spring semester of sophomore year was one of the most pivotal periods of their relationship. Being a handful of states away, Mallory and Winston realized what they had in each other. After all, absence really does make the heart grow fonder. Thanks to Frontier Airlines, though, Winston was able to spend a few weekends in Orlando while on a college budget. After that semester, they never looked back. Winston graduated and began working at Ameritas in Cincinnati, while Mallory finished her degree, went on to join Teach for America, and began teaching kindergarten.

After graduating, Mallory was adamant about getting engaged. Winston, however, kept brushing it off saying, “Yeah within a couple years.” Little did Mallory know, Winston was just as adamant and had already gotten the ball rolling long before that. The day before Mallory was to leave for Atlanta for Teach for America training, Winston—tired from a sleepless night—was still awaiting a FedEx package. Shortly before leaving to pick up Mallory, the ring finally arrived. The two then headed to dinner at Alfio’s Buon Cibo. They took a short drive to Ault Park where several of Mallory’s friends and a photographer set up a couple things for a proposal backdrop. In case you were wondering, Mallory said yes. After a short photography session, Winston, knowing Mallory would choose Rhinegeist since they had been at MadTree a couple days prior, gave Mallory the option to have a celebratory beer at MadTree or Rhinegeist. The two celebrated with family and close friends who Winston had invited to surprise Mallory!

After honeymooning in the Riviera Maya, Mallory and Winston look forward to moving to Harrison, Ohio while taking advantage of all life has to offer! They look forward to crossing off Winston’s bucket list item of the Northern Lights and Mallory’s bucket list item of San Francisco. They will eventually settle down, start a family, grow old together, draw social security (if it’s still there), and get dentures (maybe not entirely in that order).
