let's celebrate!

We met as kids when Margaret's family moved into the same neighborhood where my family lived in 2000. Margaret and I grew up together in Goldsboro, NC going to the same middle and high school (so yes, there are embarrassing photos of both of us together when we were younger.) As if we hadn't spent enough time in the same place, we both ended up going to NC State University after high school, Go Wolfpack! Although we grew apart in college and I took off to live in Chicago for a few years afterward, NC called me back home and we reconnected. What started as as a rekindling of a great friendship turned into an even better relationship. The rest is history!

Another (slightly hungover) Sunday turned into one of the best days of my life. After Lizzie indicated that I should get my nails done before we go on vacation, I should have known something was up. That evening, we were planning on going to dinner after Lizzie mysteriously had a "work emergency" she had to take care of that afternoon. We began driving in the direction of our soon-to-be new house, and I either thought there was something wrong with the house or that she was going to propose. I'm glad it was the latter :) After following a few notes into the house after we arrived, I walked into the living room to find Lizzie waiting with champagne and a sign that asked "will you marry me?". I said yes, and we celebrated in Sonoma, CA a few days later!

After a few different wedding plans coming and going, we decided that a small ceremony was the best thing for the two of us. Those who know us well also know that we (Lizzie) couldn't forego a party. So we decided to set a date, get married, announce it to family and friends, and have a delayed reception. The ceremony was exactly what we wanted - small and intimate. It was a beautiful day in Raleigh, NC with our immediate families and a few friends and we wouldn't change a thing. We then left the next day for a trip to Copper Mountain, CO where we spent a few days skiing and spending time together as newlyweds. Now, we are counting down the days to our reception with all of our favorite people! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Wilmington!
