6:00 pm
Attire: Be yourself... everyone else is already taken!
We're gonna serve up some scrumptious local cuisine on the oceanside pavilion. It'll be a laid-back, neighborhood backyard style affair -- just right for easing into the Jekyll mood and meeting new friends! Everyone attending the wedding expects to be there, so on this first evening we'll welcome and introduce everyone, share toasts, and tell stories to get us in the celebratory and loving spirit of the weekend. (That means tomorrow's reception will be ALL about the food, the mead, and the music!)
5:00 pm
Attire: Beachy casual. Button down short sleeves, sundresses, summer colors kinda thing. Sandals or slip-off shoes recommended.
Park at the picnic area, and visit the Welcome Pavilion amongst the live oaks. From the picnic area, there's a path and boardwalk out to the beach, where the ceremony will take place. Please allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy the enchanting little stroll, and to savor the serenity of the beach before the ceremony begins at 5pm.
5:30 pm
After the wedding ceremony, we'll head up to the Great Dunes Pavilion, which is about a mile north of South Dunes Park. It overlooks the dunes, beach, and ocean. Refresh yourself with drinks, fruit & cheese upon arrival! We recommend the mead. Honey wine is a wonderful thing. Fun fact: the word honeymoon comes from the month's supply of mead traditionally given to newlyweds, to... well, you get the idea! There will be vegetarian/vegan options amongst the array of fantastic Jamaican dishes on the buffet, starting at 6:00pm. Shortly after 7pm, the Brown Bag Brass Band will take the stage, and really get the party rolling with their bold New Orleans sound!
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Just a laid back Jekyll day... We'll have picnic pavilions reserved in the park, we'll get a whole bunch of BBQ and sides, we can listen to the groom & guests making music, go play on the beach, play in the woods, watch the park's resident gator (!), and generally kick back and enjoy the cherished company of friends & family. If you play music, sing, or just want to shake or hum along, all are welcome to join the music-making!
