Our Story

Summer 2011: Started out as classmates in the 3rd grade, and later became close friends thanks to our annual high school orchestra trip! (Hi, Mai!)

Winter 2022: After I reached out to John for help with building safety concerns after a scary apartment fire, our high school friend Mai brought us together in person for brunch, and the rest is history!

Winter 2022: Before we started officially dating, I attended a NY Ramblers hike in Cold Spring as Olivia's guest, and later became a full member!

Spring 2022: Our first season of cherry blossom walks in Brooklyn. We quickly discovered we are both tree enthusiasts!

Summer 2022: Our first trip together and our first Adirondack high peak, Mt. Marcy! The highest mountain in New York State. Only 45 more high peaks to go...

Winter 2023: Celebrating our 1st anniversary with a trip to the Catskills! We hiked Mt. Slide and Overlook Mountain, which were both covered in snow in late March!

Spring 2023: A flowery 5k at Planting Fields Arboretum. It was my first race, and John won first place!

Summer 2023: Our first 14er together, the highest mountain in the Rockies, Mt. Elbert!

Summer 2023: Celebrating our move-in with a family housewarming, complete with Windex shots at our favorite Brooklyn Greek restaurant!

Fall 2023: We take documenting the (documenting of the) local flora very seriously

Fall 2023: A grueling triple Adirondack high peak hike, summiting Wright, Algonquin, and Iroquois peaks! Only 42 more peaks to go...

Fall 2023: At the top of our sunset hike in Kyoto, John surprised me with a proposal! The rest of our trip turned into a pre-honeymoon celebration!
