How We Met

Thomas and Lindsay met 11 years ago at a bonfire at Thomas’s house. They crossed paths and added each other on social media, but didn't keep in touch. Fast forward 7 years, Lindsay posted on Facebook she was working an unpaid internship and looking for paid work. Thomas responded, offering her a job ushering at Van Andel Arena. One night, the arena asked Thomas to find someone to work a VIP area for a concert, and Lindsay filled in for him last minute. Thomas thanked her by buying her a beer at Brewery Vivant, which became their unofficial first date. They began to spend more time together, Lindsay’s internship turned into a paying job, and after months of her wondering “what the hell is he waiting for?”, Thomas finally made a move at a dive bar, and a love story blossomed from there.

The Proposal

May 19, 2019

On the morning of May 19, 2019 Thomas woke Lindsay up with a sweet treat and a note that said " I called you off work, that surprise was all me. Today I'm taking you on a special journey. I've got a pastry for you to eat in bed, you have 90 minutes to get ready. I'll make sure the dog is walked and fed." From there he whisked her away on a scavenger hunt around the city. At each place she was presented with another riddle which lead her to the next location. Finally, after going to all her favorite places in Grand Rapids, they ended up at a little garden where he lead her down a path decorated with flower petals and all their favorite photos together. At the end of the path, Lindsay found one final riddle. When she looked up Thomas was down on one knee, and the rest is history!
