You will need a reservation to enter the park - reservations for September open on August 1st (check the website for details). If you are interested in going, we highly recommend setting an alarm and reserving a spot as quickly as possible - they sell out fast! We recommend driving Trail Ridge Road or hitting one of our favorite hikes: Gem Lake, Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and Emerald Lake.
Downtown Estes has lots of shopping and restaurants. However, if you are looking for an adventure, check out this website for ideas on things to do. You can try fly-fishing, horseback riding, hiking, golfing, renting a boat on the marina, or even just check out a few new breweries and restaurants!
You may recognize The Stanley - this is where "The Shining" was filmed. They offer tours, and have a few restaurants you can visit on property (The Post Chicken & Beer, Brunch & Co., The Cascades, and a Whiskey and Wine Bar.)
Aerial tram to Prospect Mountain's summit, where there are panoramic views, trails & a cafe.
A great drive with several pull-offs for leaf-peeping. Best way to catch the yellow Aspen trees as they change in the Fall!
Outside of Rocky Mountain National Park so you do not need a reservation to visit! Beautiful and easy little walking trail around.
