It Began at the Finish Line Window shopping gets a bad rep. It’s true, you usually enter a store and look around and leave with nothing. However, this time at The Finish Line of Peninsula Town Center in Hampton, VA, Rijo and Lex left with something that you literally cannot buy anywhere. Rijo walked into the store one cold December day in 2013 with his younger brother, Mondo, and was greeted by a store employee that went to the same high school as he did. As they talked, Rijo noticed Lex glancing over at them as she refolded shirts on a ladder in the back of the store. This was a different type of exchange than they expected, but it was one that changed both of their lives. First Glance “I thought to myself, ‘Oh, here comes another obnoxious football player who just wants a plug for Jordans. No thanks!’” - Lex “I looked over at her and knew that I had to talk to her and I’m glad I did. She gave me the coldest shoulder known to man, but that just intrigued me even more.” - Rijo After leaving the store, Rijo had to find a way to talk to Lex again. Being the avid researcher he is, Rijo found her Instagram page and took it from there. It may go down in the DMs, but the comment section is the place to be. First Comment “I get a random notification that someone left a comment on an old picture I posted. This guy literally didn’t say anything but left his phone number on the post.” - Lex “She ate that up, boy. Haaa! We’ve been talking ever since that day.” - Rijo It only took a few days until they saw each other again. It was at a birthday dinner for the same mutual friend that worked in the Finish Line with Lex. This was their first chance to hang out and get to know each other - at a Dave and Buster’s in Virginia Beach. As the winter break passed on, the couple continued texting, talking and FaceTiming late into each night. They made sure to watch The Walking Dead TV show together whenever possible. SPRING 2014 – SUMMER 2016 Fast forward to the infamous “Summer ‘16” (think One Dance & Controlla by Drake, yeah, that summer), Lex was a student at Baylor University in Waco, TX and Rijo accepted a job in Dallas, TX. The couple from Virginia was now in Texas making drives up and down I-35 to see each other. Lex and Rijo now share a home in Frisco, TX with their dog Rodi. They enjoy going out for long walks with Rodi, finding the best new restaurants in the city and watching TLC relationship reality shows. They are so excited that you are considering joining them for their big day. A lifetime of memories will begin on August 5, 2023 for Lex and Rijo and they are thrilled to have you there sharing in the day with them.
