Question

Where are we getting married?

Answer

Heritage Wedding Barns in Shelby, MI. Not to be confused with Shelby Township which is ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STATE. Don’t go there, please. It won’t be as fun. 😁

Question

Are there any room blocks for guests?

Answer

Yes! We reserved hotel room blocks at the Comfort Inn located in Whitehall, MI for 1 night, Saturday to Sunday. You get a discount if you mention you’re booking for the Olaf wedding. Check in is 3:00 on Saturday. It’s a 20 minute drive by car from the venue but we will include a 23 passenger shuttle bus as well. It will take about 30 minutes to get to the venue by the shuttle. Keep in mind the wedding will start at 4:30 and first shuttle will have to leave at 3:00 with the second shuttle leaving the hotel at 3:50 in order to get all guests to the venue on time. It might be better to try and get a room Friday night also to have ample time to get ready on Saturday so you won’t be rushed and miss the bus. If you would like to stay somewhere closer to the venue we have included a couple hotels that are within 10 minutes of the venue on our travel page.

Question

Shuttle Bus

Answer

The bus will hold up to 23 people at a time. It will make two trips to the venue. First pick up leaving the hotel at 3:00pm and then another leaving at 3:50pm. It will also be making trips back from the venue to the hotel. If you would like to leave early we will have the number to call for them to come get you. As the night gets later the bus will not leave until it is a little fuller. 10:00 will be the first official trip back to the hotel. Last call for the bar is at 10:30 and all guests HAVE to be off the premises by 11:00pm, which is when the last shuttle leaves. You may leave your car at the venue if you would rather drive yourself but it must be picked up by 12:00 on Sunday or it will be towed. ALSO, there is no Uber or Lyft in this area. Plan wisely!

Question

MUSIC 🎶

Answer

If you know Megan, you know there will be everything from Sinatra to Whitney Houston to Bob Seger to Lizzo to Morgan Wallen and everything in between. BUT if you have a request, please do not hesitate to shoot Megan a text! We want everyone to have fun and dance to the music they love! (219) 713-7923

Question

Registry/gift cards

Answer

Our Amazon registry wouldn’t allow us to list gift cards from places we frequent so I’ll list them here. Menards, Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, At Home or any Visa would be put to good use. 😎🤗😊😁 Also, a gift card from smallwoodhome.com It’s where I get all of our family pictures framed.💛

Question

What should you wear?

Answer

We would appreciate it if attire was business casual. No need to get super fancy, but who doesn’t like to dress up?💃🏻🕺🏻A cute cocktail dress? Some snazzy slacks? Maybe bring a light cardigan? We’re going to be really close to Lake Michigan. It might get breezy. 🌬

Question

What are the wedding colors?

Answer

Dusty sage, eucalyptus and blush.

Question

Can I have a +1?

Answer

Unfortunately, we had to be VERY stingy with the guest list. We can not go over the number of guests that we invited. If we could’ve we definitely would have invited more friends and family.

Question

Can children come?

Answer

Unless they were included on the invitation we would appreciate it if you left the kiddos at home. It’ll be more fun for you. Mom and dad night out!

Question

Children seating

Answer

There are no high chairs or booster seats available at the venue. You are more than welcome to bring them if you would like.

Question

What shoes should I wear? (Mostly for woman)

Answer

The ceremony will be held in a grassy area. There is a little bit of a walk to the ceremony site through grass. So I would advise not wearing stilettos to avoid getting stuck in the grass. Although, we will have high heel protectors at the entrance if you would like to utilize those and not ruin your fancy shoes. 👠 Up to you!

Question

Is smoking allowed?

Answer

Smoking and vaping are allowed but only out where the fire pit is.🔥

Question

Is the venue handicap accessible?

Answer

Yes, it is! The barn has two levels. Food will be served upstairs and the bar is downstairs. There are stairs in the barn to take you to the second level OR there is a ramp outside that will take you up there as well. There will also be golf carts transporting people who need help getting to and from the ceremony site. Handicap parking is available up by the barn. Limited space, about 3 or 4 spots.

Question

Is the event indoors or outdoors?

Answer

BOTH! The ceremony will be outdoors. It’s a little bit of a walk, about 2 minutes from the barn. But anyone who can not make the walk or if it would be difficult, there will be a few golf carts at the barn waiting to transport people to the ceremony site. Dinner will be inside the barn. Music and dancing will be outside, hopefully, if weather allows. It’ll get chilly at night so either drink until you’re not cold or bring a jacket!

Question

What’s on the menu?

Answer

There will be appetizers at cocktail hour. Veggie pinwheels along with steak roll ups. As for dinner, it will be served buffet style. Slow roasted brisket, chicken marsala, mashed potatoes and gravy, maple glazed baby carrots, potato salad, Greek pasta salad, garden salad and rolls. 😋
