Balboa Park is San Diego's largest Park. It's filled with several museums and exhibits including the Museum of Man, Air & Space Museum, Comic-Con Museum, Natural History Museum, Art Museums, The Japanese Friendship Garden, Botanical Gardens and more. There are also several trails you can walk, bike or scooter along, as well as fun little shops in the Spanish Village Art Center. If you get hungry while touring the park, Prado and Panama 66 are both wonderful places to stop and grab a bite to eat.
Walt and Lea are both members of the San Diego Zoo and love to visit when they have the chance. If you also plan on going to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park located north of San Diego you may want to look into reduced price ticket packages.
Located in Banker's Hill right next to Balboa Park. This is one of our favorite Italian Restaurants in San Diego! It was also where we celebrated our engagement.
Little Italy is a cute little area of San Diego just outside of downtown. There are many authentic Italian restaurants, shops and boutiques you can visit. You may also want to check out one of Walt's favorites Mona Lisa Deli.
Located in Little Italy. Their homemade pasta and sauces are delicious! I recommend sitting outside in the summer. Inside it can be a bit loud.
The USS Midway is one of the most accessible aircraft carriers the public can tour. It comes with an audio tour and you can easily spend all day here if you'd like to see the entire ship.
Liberty Station has a wonderful public market with lots of food options, shopping and a bar. Also if you have time you can check out Stone Brewery for a bite to eat or some beer tasting.
La Jolla is a gorgeous beach location just north of downtown San Diego with lovely restaurants, shops and hotels. You can also get the full Southern California experience by kayaking the La Jolla caves or taking surfing lessons.
The Mission Bay Boardwalk is a fun place for the family with rollercoasters, games and a carnival vibe. You can also walk, bike or skate along the boardwalk from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach.
Coronado Island is a picturesque beach town with lots of fun shopping, fantastic dining and lovely beaches to lay on and soak up the Southern California Sun. The famous Hotel Del Coronado is also a wonderful place to visit for lunch, grab a drink or stay at during your time in San Diego.
