Things To Do

While you're in San Diego we have some fantastic recommendations for things to do and places to eat!

Petco Park

100 Park Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 795-5025

Obviously it wouldn't be a Bishop wedding if there wasn't a little baseball involved! The Padres will be in town playing the Texas Rangers July 28-30th if you'd like to catch a game or two.

Meze Greek Fusion

345 Sixth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 550-1600

Located downtown in the Gaslamp District. This is a fun and delicious restaurant if you love Mediterranean cuisine! Getting the Saganaki is a must!

Balboa Park

San Diego, CA 92103

Balboa Park is San Diego's largest Park. It's filled with several museums and exhibits including the Museum of Man, Air & Space Museum, Comic-Con Museum, Natural History Museum, Art Museums, The Japanese Friendship Garden, Botanical Gardens and more. There are also several trails you can walk, bike or scooter along, as well as fun little shops in the Spanish Village Art Center. If you get hungry while touring the park, Prado and Panama 66 are both wonderful places to stop and grab a bite to eat.

San Diego Zoo

Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

Walt and Lea are both members of the San Diego Zoo and love to visit when they have the chance. If you also plan on going to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park located north of San Diego you may want to look into reduced price ticket packages.

CUCINA urbana

505 Laurel Street, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 239-2222

Located in Banker's Hill right next to Balboa Park. This is one of our favorite Italian Restaurants in San Diego! It was also where we celebrated our engagement.

Little Italy

San Diego, CA 92101

Little Italy is a cute little area of San Diego just outside of downtown. There are many authentic Italian restaurants, shops and boutiques you can visit. You may also want to check out one of Walt's favorites Mona Lisa Deli.

Bencotto

750 West Fir Street, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 450-4786

Located in Little Italy. Their homemade pasta and sauces are delicious! I recommend sitting outside in the summer. Inside it can be a bit loud.

USS Midway Museum

910 North Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 544-9600

The USS Midway is one of the most accessible aircraft carriers the public can tour. It comes with an audio tour and you can easily spend all day here if you'd like to see the entire ship.

Liberty Station

San Diego, CA

Liberty Station has a wonderful public market with lots of food options, shopping and a bar. Also if you have time you can check out Stone Brewery for a bite to eat or some beer tasting.

La Jolla Cove/Shores

San Diego, CA 92037

La Jolla is a gorgeous beach location just north of downtown San Diego with lovely restaurants, shops and hotels. You can also get the full Southern California experience by kayaking the La Jolla caves or taking surfing lessons.

Mission Beach Boardwalk

2688 E Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA 92109

The Mission Bay Boardwalk is a fun place for the family with rollercoasters, games and a carnival vibe. You can also walk, bike or skate along the boardwalk from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach.

Coronado Island

Coronado, CA

Coronado Island is a picturesque beach town with lots of fun shopping, fantastic dining and lovely beaches to lay on and soak up the Southern California Sun. The famous Hotel Del Coronado is also a wonderful place to visit for lunch, grab a drink or stay at during your time in San Diego.
