Scott grew up in Essex Fells, NJ. He attended Seton Hall Prep High School and Columbia University. After college, he worked at a variety of golf courses in North Jersey and Jupiter, Florida. Later, he accepted the Head Pro job at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, PA and moved into Philadelphia. Lauren grew up about an hour away in Flemington, NJ. She attended Hunterdon Central High School and Villanova University (for undergrad and grad school). After college, she reported at Fox46 Charlotte in North Carolina and later Fox29 Philadelphia.

When the pandemic hit, Lauren’s reporting schedule got cut in half. She started looking for side gigs in her spare time: teaching Broadcast Journalism at TCNJ in the fall and writing for a journalism textbook company in the winter. In the spring, she saw a posting on Zip Recruiter for a Communications Specialist at Rolling Green. She knew nothing about golf but walked in on her first day and was struck by Scott. In the same way, Scott didn’t leave her side. The running joke became, “if you are looking for Scott, find Lauren.” The two only worked together for three months (Lauren is now a Media Trainer at Edelman, the world's largest PR firm), but they believe everything happens for a reason.

For their first date, Scott and Lauren flirted with the state lines. They had lunch in New Hope, PA, then walked across the bridge to sip wine along the Delaware River at the Lambertville Station Inn on the NJ side.

Scott popped the question on Lauren’s favorite cobblestone street in Philly, behind Independence Hall. It was a rainy, windy, freezing cold day in early May. Lauren's sister Michelle supplied them with cute, clear umbrellas and a good friend reminded them: wet knots tie tighter!

Every Sunday night (except during the winter), we wind down the week by playing a couple holes at Rolling Green and sneaking into Villanova's student mass (late, as Lauren's sister Jenna reminds them). Our wedding will mirror that Sunday tradition, starting at St. Thomas of Villanova, followed by par-teeing at a golf course.
