It was mid May 2020 and the world had very recently shut down due to COVID. What else would a single, bored, stuck at home girl do but start swiping on a dating site called Hinge. Lucky for me, Alex had the same idea. When Alex and I matched, his opening question was, "What is you favorite restaurant?" Those who know me, know that I love going out to eat, so his question was the perfect conversation starter! After about two weeks of chatting, Alex asked if I'd like to go to get ice cream with him. Not willing to risk my health and possible COVID for an essential stranger, I suggested we do a Zoom date first. Alex and I first met "face to face" on zoom and talked for 3 whole hours! The conversation flowed effortlessly and I loved his smile. After we got off the zoom, Alex texted me and said, "Now can I take you on an ice cream date?" Of course I said yes, and the first week of June we met up at Leo's Yum Yum in Medford, NJ. Our ice cream date lasted 4 hours and consisted of tasty ice cream flavors, lots of fun conversation, and he even saved me from a spider! When my friend Lindsay finally texted me to make sure I was alive (she was my online date point person) I realized it was 7:00 and neither of us had eaten dinner. Since no restaurants were open at the time, we parted ways and looked forward to our next date. We then spent the summer in our little quarantine bubble, got creative with outdoor date ideas, and got to know each other faster and deeper than we would have under normal circumstances. On July 30, 2020 our relationship became "official" when Alex bought me a bouquet of my favorite flowers, tulips, and wrote me the sweetest card. Now after 2 1/2 years together we are ready to spend the rest of our lives together!
