How to Get to La Ventana & Where to Stay

La Ventana
The wedding will be held in the town of El Sargento, Baja California Sur, Mexico, which is approximately two hours north of San Jose Del Cabo and 45 minutes south of La Paz, the capital city of Baja Sur. While we would love for everyone to be able to attend our wedding, given that this is a destination wedding in a foreign country for most of our guests, we completely understand if the costs or the logistics of travel make it difficult to attend. We are not offended and understand if you need to decline the invitation. Although many refer to the entire populated area as La Ventana, the community is actually made up of three towns: La Ventana on the southern end, El Sargento to the north and El Teso in the middle. The three towns are all safe and blend together - it can be hard to tell when you've left one and entered another. The towns are right on the shore of Bahia de la Ventana, a large bay within the calm waters of the Sea of Cortez, with a massive island, Isla Cerralvo, on the eastern horizon. La Ventana is a small fishing village popular for its wind sports (kiteboarding and wing foiling). Travelers love the area for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear and warm water, miles of trails snaking through the desert, and countless kiteboarders flying across the bay. There is cell phone service throughout most of the area and most hotels/Airbnbs will have Wifi. Google Maps works but is not always 100% accurate in town, so we recommend double-checking street signs when exploring the area. There are many hotels in the area in addition to rental homes. To help you plan your stay, we have included a few suggestions here, but note there are many other options available in the area. PLEASE USE GOOGLE MAPS WHILE IN LA VENTANA. Apple maps is not reliable and does not have many locations
Flight
Major Airport: Los Cabos International Airport
For those traveling from outside of Southern California: You will want to fly into San Jose Del Cabo, where you can either book a shuttle (be sure to book in advance) or rent a car to drive about two hours northeast to the town of La Ventana. We highly recommend you or someone in your group rents a car (more on this below).
Flight
La Paz Airport (SoCal Residents)
Guests traveling from San Diego and other parts of SoCal: An easier (and sometimes less expensive) option to get to La Ventana is to fly from Tijuana to La Paz. There are multiple direct flights from Tijuana offered each day. The CBX bridge makes the border crossing easy. Once in La Paz, guests can rent a car or shuttle to La Ventana. Currently, all direct flights from Tijuana to La Paz are on Volaris.
Rental Car
Recommendation: Rent a Car
Although there are shuttles available to and from the airport, we recommend that you or someone in your group rent a car to get around during your stay, as there are no Ubers or taxis in La Ventana. There are many rental car companies right next to the airports in both Cabo and La Paz. The area of La Ventana is fairly spread out and not always walkable, so we highly recommend renting a car to maximize your stay and exploration! Please avoid driving at night between La Ventana and La Paz/Cabo if possible. There are a lot of cows on the road and they are extremely difficult to see at night. If you have to drive at night, drive slowly and carefully. If you do decide to take a shuttle from the airport, you can rent a tuk tuk to use to get around town: https://www.bajacaravana.com/
