The ceremony and reception will be held at Casa de Nietos, a beautiful home in El Sargento, next to La Ventana. La Ventana is a small beach town in Baja California Sur, Mexico approximately two hours north of San Jose Del Cabo on the beautiful Sea of Cortez. Together, the towns of La Ventana, El Teso, and El Sargento encompass the La Ventana area. These towns are very close together and are all close to the venue.
The closest major airport is Los Cabos International Airport in San Jose Del Cabo (approximately two hours drive). Guests can rent a car or shuttle from the Cabo airport to La Ventana. Guests coming from San Diego/Palm Desert: An easier (and usually less expensive) option for getting to La Ventana is to fly from Tijuana to La Paz. La Paz is approximately 45 minutes south of La Ventana. There are multiple direct flights from Tijuana offered each day. The CBX bridge makes the border crossing easy. Once in La Paz, guests can rent a car or shuttle to La Ventana. Feel free to reach out to Laurel if you have any questions about flying out of Tijuana.
Yes, we encourage you or someone in your group to rent a car so you can get around and see the whole area if you feel comfortable. The road from Cabo to La Ventana is paved and easy to drive. There are no Ubers or taxis in La Ventana. Another option is to take a shuttle from the airport and rent a tuk-tuk or ATV while in town. Baja Carvana (https://www.bajacaravana.com/) provides affordable rental options to get around town. Please avoid driving at night between La Ventana and La Paz/Cabo if possible. There are a lot of cows on the road and they are extremely difficult to see at night. If you have to drive at night, drive slowly and carefully.
Casual, beachy dress - Hawaiian shirts, sundresses, linen, etc are encouraged. It will likely be hot during the day and cool off at night, so we recommend guests bring sunglasses, hats, and a thin jacket.
Yes! We just ask that you please keep an eye on them since we will be in the desert and no kid-proofing has been done on the property -- think cactuses and decks with no guard rails.
If you have someone in mind who you want to bring and don't have a plus one on your RSVP, please feel free to reach out to us and ask.
Please RSVP by June 1, 2024
1) You CANNOT drink the water. Much like most of Mexico, it is NOT advised to drink the water out of any faucet. Check with your hotel or vacation rental -- most places in the area will supply jugs of drinking water. If not, you can buy big and small jugs of water at most stores (please consider doing this instead of purchasing a bunch of single use bottles) ***Helpful hint: Keep your mouth closed in the shower. 2) Live stock is free range. When driving, be careful and go slow as cows and other animals may wander onto the road. Avoid driving at night as animals tend to gravitate to the road for warmth and are harder to spot. 3) Keep an eye out for speed bumps. Most are not painted and can blend in with the rest of the road. Sometimes you will see signs marked "tope" but often there is no signage. 4) Keep some pesos on hand. Many of the restaurants and markets will take credit card, however some smaller locations and gas stations may be cash only. There is only one ATM in La Ventana and it frequently runs out of cash so please try to get pesos in La Paz/Los Cabos or before your trip from your bank (order ahead of your trip). 5) Know common driving etiquette. Drivers ahead of you will flash their hazards to signal to slow down, typically because there is a road hazard (usually cows and goats) ahead. When drivers turn on their left hand turn signal on the highway and drive closer to the side of the road, it means it is okay to pass (this is usually done by slower vehicles).
