On January 18, 2017 Laura had invited a stranger to her apartment to purchase her parent's old love seat through the app, Let Go. Nervous, she invited a friend over for safety because this stranger would inevitably....no DEFINITELY be creepy. She made sure she looked as rough as possible, with her sweaty post-gym hair up and in baggy old sweats. The time came when this stranger showed up, and when Laura saw him walking up the stairs she shouted, "You're not creepy!" That stranger was Aaron (and his brother). Aaron tried negotiating the couch down, but his own guilt ate at him...he gave her the full asking price. Pleased with the transaction (and the buyer) Laura followed up to make sure he got the couch home okay, and thus blossomed conversation that never ended. And it all started with a couch.
In October of 2019, Laura and Aaron went to visit friends of theirs in Idaho (I know...who lives in Idaho?!). They split up for a day, Aaron and Daniel had a boys adventure day, and Laura and Claire had a girls pampering day. The next day the four of them planned to go on a hike to an old abandoned coal mine. And at this mine Daniel told us stories of finding geodes (rocks with crystals in them). So off they went, on this hike that proved pretty difficult for Laura. The three others were questioning if she would make it to the top...and Laura questioned why the heck she was doing this (she didn't even care about the geodes). Finally, they made it to the abandoned mine at the top of the hike. While Laura was distracted by an eagle's nest, she heard Daniel shout, "I found one!" She went over to inspect, and sure enough there was a dirty old geode. She washed it off with her water then went back to the nest. Next, she heard Aaron shout, "I found one too!" Then Claire was encouraging her to look in the same spot the guys found theirs. So she did. After her back was turned for a bit, Claire told her to go back to the eagle's nest. At that moment, Laura stood up and turned around to find Aaron on his knee with a ring in his hand saying, "Laura, will you marry me?" The best part of this story...there were no geodes at mine. The guys bought some at a Michael's and planted them the day before! A very well thought out plan that made the hike worth the work.
