Beth and Kyle live off of the Monon Trail in Broad Ripple, and it's where they spend most evenings walking Janie - and most weekend mornings on long runs. Check out the village where they call home if you need a morning workout. The trail runs 20+ miles from downtown Indianapolis all the way to Sheridan, IN in northern Hamilton County. You can also check out the Central Canal Trail, which connects Broad Ripple to the west side of downtown via the Indianapolis Museum of Art, or the Cultural Trail in downtown Indy.
Beth & Kyle's favorite restaurant in Indianapolis is always a hit - whether it's a random weeknight for them or they're entertaining out of town guests. If you're looking for a place for dinner on Friday night, we'll give it a solid A++. The menu always rotates, but Beth loves the vegan Curried Cauliflower Steak & Kyle breaks his "pescatarian" diet for the Kimchi Pork Belly or Waygu Burger when it's available. Pair it with a bottle of crisp, French Sancerre & finish with the vegan sorbet trio to try one of their date-night menus! It's a 10 minute Uber from the hotel.
One of Kyle's favorite tracks in the city is easy to get to from downtown and is known for much more than golf. You'll find the groomsmen out at Indianapolis Motor Speedway early on Saturday morning, but they'll be hitting drivers instead of watching them. Pete Dye designed this famous course that loops into the infield of Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 4 holes. It has previously hosted big time events such as the Champions Tour's Comfort Classic until 2000, the LPGA Tour for the IWIT Invitational through 2021, and Kyle's missed cut at the 2009 Indiana Open.
Some of Beth and Kyle's favorite spots include Indy's many local breweries. Beth loves to take Janie to Metazoa Brewing, which is known in Indy for allowing dogs to roam free both inside the brewery and in the combination dog park/biergarten outside. Upland Brewing Fountain Square is can't miss if it's a beautiful September day. The Tap or Ralston's is great for college football's noon window on Saturday. And you can never go wrong with Sun King - Indy's longest running and most famous brewery.
Need something to do on Saturday afternoon while you wait for us to get ready? Up on the north side of Mass Ave, Pins Mechanical Co. is a giant adult playplace - a mix of duckpin bowling, giant beer pong, ping pong, and a great outdoor patio. If you're feeling a bit more like throwing out your arm, just north of Pins is the Fowling Warehouse - which combines bowling with, well, throwing footballs. Kyle & Beth are regulars at both on Saturdays when they're actually in town & not traveling.
Beth & Kyle love relaxing Saturdays & Sundays in South Broad Ripple, or SoBro as the locals call it. Make a morning out of a walking tour! Grab coffee at Breadworks, walk over to Gallery Pastry Shop for brunch, and then head across the Monon Trail to Half Liter for a pint and some brisket or frito pie. Walk off the big meal by shooting west down 54th street for a tour of one of Indianapolis' most historic neighborhoods - Meridian-Kessler - where Beth & Kyle are living vicariously through Zillow listings.
