At the end of 2018, we first met through a mutual friend over FaceTime when Luke tried to do a Donkey impression from the movie Shrek. Luke remembers it going poorly, but Sydney remembers laughing and thinking it was cute. Before we knew each other well, we would often try to convince our friends to go cliff jumping late at night, or some other spontaneous outing. We quickly discovered how competitive we both are, which led to lots of card games during our first few months together.

In June of 2021, Luke planned a vacation for us in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. We stayed in a cute little cottage on the beach, and on the second night we went for a walk on the beach during sunset. Sydney started digging to find coquina clams and turned around with her hands full to show Luke, but instead found him on one knee about to propose. It was a perfect night, and we were fortunate enough to receive the above photo of us, taken just moments after the proposal.
