The Wedding Website of Katie McEachern and Thomas O'Brien
We know we picked a tough spot to get to - we promise it'll be amazing and totally worth it!! Here are some tips and tricks when you are looking at booking your trip. Of course you can also text us if you need advice/recommendations.

Travel Note

FIRST THING

Please check your passports! If you don't have one - apply for one now. If you do have one - we recommend making sure it isn't expiring within 6 months of travel. IF YOU ARE TRAVELING OUTSIDE OF IRELAND YOU MIGHT NEED A TRAVEL VISA. Please read this website while making your travel plans- the visa is easy and lasts for 3 years

Hotel

Great Southern Killarney

Killarney, KY V93 R866, Ireland

This is where we will be having our wedding: the ceremony and reception!! If you'd like to stay at the venue we have a room block that includes a couple different type of rooms - the price per night is 220/230 euros with larger family type room options for an extra fee. We have rooms set aside for the the night before the wedding, the night of the wedding, and the night after. So 6/19-6/22 if you'd like! You must book these rooms by Wednesday May 8th, otherwise the block gets released to the public and they may not be available Please email them directly and mention Obrien/McEachern if you'd like to book weddings@greatsouthernkillarney.com

Rental Car

Rental Cars

Ireland drives on the left side of the road - just be aware. We picked our venue so that you won't need a rental car once you get there (everything is walking distance). BUT we highly recommend getting a rental car if you plan to tour around and sight see and want to go see things without needing a tour bus. If you are renting a car - book your rental car ASAP. If you can drive stick - we recommend doing it, it will be significantly cheaper to rent. A lot of rental car companies allow you to add a spouse/partner for free - ask the agent about that. Most credit cards that include car rental insurance DON'T cover Ireland. I know that Chase does but you will need to contact the rewards page to get a proof of coverage since the rental insurance counter will ask for proof. Otherwise you will be adding on insurance coverage as it is required.

Flight

Dublin Airport / Travel From It

This will be the cheapest and easiest airport to get to. BUT it is a lot like LAX or LGA - big and hectic and time consuming. Please note that it is roughly 4 hours direct drive to Killarney if you opt for a rental car. If you don't want a rental, there is a bus or train that can get you there between 3-5 hrs. The bus is called "The Green Bus" and it will pick you up from the airport and take you directly to Killarney with a couple stops along the way. It is 30 euro and runs just about every hour. https://www.dublincoach.ie/all-timetables/route-300-m7-express For the train option: You have to taxi/uber to the train station and there will be a 1-2 train changes depending on which trip you book. The price per person is around 20-60 euro each, depending on how early you book. It will feel like a long exhausting day if you fly into Dublin and drive yourself to Killarney without a break- we don't recommend it.

Flight

Shannon Airport

This airport is the easiest to fly into and out of - it's small and simple. You would want a rental car - It is a 2 hr drive from Killarney. There is a possibility of us coordinating a bus pick up if you have a larger group take the same flight into Shannon and don't want to deal with a car. Please text us

Flight

Kerry Airport

This is the closest airport but it's takes some planning to get to (and might be expensive if you bring golf clubs). If you fly into Dublin, RyanAir has a flight from Dublin to Kerry that is usually £40 plus any baggage costs. You unfortunately have to book these tickets seperately. For those that don't know, RyanAir is a lot like Spirit and Frontier Airlines in America. If you happen to be coming from Europe (little vacay before our wedding) this airport is so easy to fly into. It's a 20 min drive (uber- around $40) or 20 min bus ride to Killarney ($8-$15).

House Or Rental

Other options on where to stay?

There are hundreds of options of where to stay in Killarney. And most are within walking distance to our venue. You can stay in a Hotel, Airbnb or Bed & Breakfast. I will say Bed & Breakfast's are a big thing - generally super easy if you're just looking for a simple bedroom to sleep in.
